Solo vacation, yea or nay?

Do you enjoy going away on your own?
I am very extroverted, but also deeply need alone time to recharge. I need, at minimum, four or five days at a stretch to un- people.

I usually go backcountry camping, as it has the lowest chance of being interrupted.
I don't really do city breaks on my own because everything I see I want to show/share with my DH or family.

If you do solo vacay, what do you like to do/where to go? While I love what I do, I am always open to trying new stuff

I've been to India several times on my own and usually take a yearly canary island solo break to recharge and chill for the week in the sun

That sounds amazing, India would be epic to explore

That's very adventurous . I booked a solo all inclusive in December to Egypt. There's a gym, classes and snorkeling all of which will keep me busy for 5 days. In the past I've done group trips like a pilates retreat and just been not that sociable, but am very much looking forward to going full solo. I could do anything really, but it's more that I find making lots of decisions quite tiring!

Yes, been everywhere from Cambodia to Jordan. I love back packing around like I'm 20 again. Camping is my idea of hell even though I wish I could love it.

I haven't yet but I plan to in the future (I'm single with one DC who will be flying the nest to uni in a couple of years). I'm thinking of going on group tours. I have been on solo city breaks and enjoyed.

Do you stay in hostels?

I love being able to choose where to go, what to do, when to do it, without having to worry about others

Back in the day I went all sorts of places on my own. From Budapest to Vietnam. Now I travel with the old ball and chain and the kids. Much as I love family time what I wouldn’t give for a two week solo adventure. Or even just a night in a hotel by myself!

Japan, Italy, Taiwan? I’m in Japan atm and it’s amazing for solo travelers. Most restraurants you sit at the bar and most people are dining solo. It’s also incredibly safe for women so no issues with going out late.
