Hello!
Ok so, I was involved in a traumatic experience.
I tried to prevent someone stealing my mum's car, I was dragged along the road, then I was ran over and then knocked out when I hit the ground.
I was lay in the road for a long time.
Anyway, they stole the car
This happened on the 15th.
This happened on a secluded side road ( this is why it took a while to find me)
I was borrowing my mum's car at the time.
There was someone hanging around when the police arrived ( in about 5 minutes after they were called) the person " hanging around" were arrested at the scene ( I don't know why)
Anyway the case is still "open"
My understanding is that if the police do not have a suspect, the generally close the case until the car is found?
I have tried to find out what is happening but 101 won't tell me I have to wait for the investigating officer rings me.
I am just looking for some hope that if the case is still open they have "found something to investigate"
Thank you

Hi
There are a number of enquiries they will carry out before closing this case, house to house, CCTV, location enquiries on the car, ANPR on the reg.
That's before they find it.
If it's found, it will either be potentially forensically useful or burnt out and unlikely to be useful at all.

It must be incredibly annoying to be kept waiting but the OIC is most likely a shift worker and might be off for a number of days before any further enquiries can continue.

If you don't hear anything by Friday I would say call 101 (middle of the night best time to call, depending on your area you could be in the queue for a well over an hour during the day) and ask them for an update.
