What if I only ate cereal?

I have disordered eating, but I love cereal!

If I had a mixture of porridge, home made muesli (with flax seeds, coconut and dried fruit) and sultana bran for every meal most days what would I be missing out on nutritionally? Will I do myself any harm?

Eating an evening meal is really stressful and I'd much rather get myself some cereal

I do have other foods too. I eat I lot of natural yogurt, drink a lot of milk and tea, and have dark chocolate.

I will have a main meal sometimes, maybe two or three times a week, which is usually a jacket potato with salad, tuna, cheese or egg. Occasionally I have steak and chips but not very often.

I drink a lot of red wine too, but must try and cut down on that! Blush

There would be worse things to live on but you'll be missing out on things like vitamin C.

If the evening meal is again could you have a larger meal at lunch instead? Or prep in the morning if that's an issue.

My eating has been terrible for over a year due to stress. I'm not eating much but I'm managing to get salad, fruit, bread, some cheese and all important chocolate. I was poorly for a while when it was even worse but I'm a bit better now. I eat one meal a day.

I would think anything that means you eat something and try not to stress is fine as eventually you'll sort yourself out. Your diet is more varied than mine and I'm not sure strictly disordered tbh.

Cereals seem to be fortified with vitamins , think the only one you might miss is C. An orange a day, or a glass of orange juice would cover that.

@BirthdayRainbow I totally sympathise. Stress makes eating more difficult. I hope life improves for you soon. I'm glad you can manage the all important chocolate though!

It's not the prepping or cooking, it's just that I really don't fancy eating anything other than cereal chocolate and wine!

Ah different from me then. I used to love cooking and baking and spent hours choosing meals to make. I cannot let him take more from me so I am going to make some epic meals soon. I'm going to do better. Thanks for the kick up the bum.

You go for it!! I love how some people can be real foodies and really enjoy trying different things! Bake off starts next week - might give you some inspiration if you like baking!

Protein?

You need 60+ grams a day

Normallynumb · 18/09/2024 23:59

I'm much the same due to complete lack of appetite, so don't force yourself to eat
I have granola, Greek yogurt, fruit and chocolate.I take a daily A-Z multivitamin and mineral too
All ok during recent blood tests
