If you have primary aged DC, what's your evening routine like?

I have two DS, Reception and Year 2.

When they come home from school it's usually tele, dinner at the table, maybe homework or reading, and then a bit more tele whilst DH finishes work in the study and I clear up. Bath, books bed.

I want to get out of the cycle of them coming in and just watching TV, I know they're both tired at the end of the day and a bit of tele is fine, but I don't like that's all they seem to do in the evening.

Occasionally they will cook with me, but they get home before me and I've often had the slow cooker on / have pre made something to heat up, so not a lot of involvement needed.

Do others set up toys etc? Maybe I ought to do that, colouring books, pens, Lego etc. feel like we are in a bit of a rut

I have one in infant school. We tend to do homework before school as it works better for us. We do it in the half hour between breakfast and leaving the house. Then I never have to fight a tired little person to do their reading etc.

Our routine goes:

06:30 Up and dressed
07:00 Breakfast as a family
07:30 Homework
07:45 TV
08:00 Leave for school
15:30 Home and TV on with snack
16:00 TV turned off and we play together
18:00 Dinner, tidy up
18:45 Bath, story
19:30 Sleep

It may be more TV than some others but it works out to about an hour a day which I don't think is too bad.
