What weekend plans are you looking forward to?

It's Wednesday, that midpoint through the week!

What are your weekend plans that are keeping you going? Big or small, from a trip away or a book you're looking forward to tucking into.

We're off to Windermere for the weekend. Dove Cottage, maybe a go on the boat ride, cheese shop, and lots of lovely wanders. Managed to grab a really sweet little Airbnb with gorgeous scenery, so we're all very much looking forward to it! Usually it's a summer trip but I love it when the weather has turned. Hoping for a bit of mist!

We might be going up to a gallery in London as a friend has some paintings on display there. If not, I guess I will be gardening all weekend.

Oh that sounds like fun! What kind of art does your friend do? I hope you have a fab time if you go. If not, you can't beat a bit of a potter in the garden.

This weekend definitely a beach/forest walk local to our house.

A weekend in December booked a camping pod in the Lake District for a mini break /adventure at a national trust camp site. Relatively cheap but it's the excitement until we go that we all love planning/packing etc

Itonlytakesone · 18/09/2024 14:17

October that was meant to say!🤣

frozendaisy · 18/09/2024 14:18

Meeting friend for a catch up with art and wine.

Lazy, slow Sunday cooking, chatting, homework, painting, sorting through items to see if they can be donated, fixed, both etc

Camping in December is so much fun. It has such a completely different feeling to it than the summer - a different kind of peace. I hope you have a fab time! Completely agree about the excitement, too. I'm a huge planner so getting everything organised feels like an extension of the trip itself!

Haha! Well October is fun too! All of that misty weather and crunchy leaves!

Art and wine = perfect weekending, in my books. Especially followed by a relaxed Sunday!

DD is moving to uni. I'm not looking forward to my weekend. But you can't say that.

Oh I can only imagine that feeling. Very bittersweet. I hope she gets off okay, and that you've got plenty of comforts to ease you through. You must be so proud of her. 💐

I'm off to Durham Uni open day with dd1. Couldn't afford the overnight stay this time though 😥

daffodilandtulip · 18/09/2024 14:27

@GiddyRobin I'm so excited for her, she's so clever and driven, she'll absolutely fly. But spending the week trying not to cry!

I'll plan some nice things for Sunday and come back in the spirit of your thread 😂

GiddyRobin · 18/09/2024 14:33

@lucysmam I hope she has a fab time at the open day! Durham is a nice uni. It's definitely a pain with extra travel in one day, but at least it'll be your own bed you'll collapse into at the end of it all.

@daffodilandtulip Yes do update how it all goes! It'll be a wonderful experience for her, but she'll always be your baby deep down. Sending you all of the 🍷 and the 🍵!

It's super sunny here today, so I'll cross my fingers the dry weather keeps up for you!

I am dog sitting my friend's whippet this weekend. Looking forward to taking her to the forest for a walk and to the pub afterwards 😀

Oh I'm envious! Whippets are so much fun, and such good pub companions when they're all walked out! We've got an Irish wolfhound and a collie, the wolfboy is generally happy to lounge at your feet in a pub...the collie will be bouncing everywhere for attention. He's very vain. 😆

I don't actually know, he's a friend of a friend and I've never met him or seen any of his work, so it will be interesting to find out, and to meet him.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 19/09/2024 13:39

A lie-in on Saturday! And a walk/brunch with a dear friend on Sunday!

MarkWithaC · 19/09/2024 13:47

I'm going to zumba on Saturday, which always makes me feel so good (although exhausted too!). Will likely go to a gallery in the afternoon with DP.
Sunday we're invited to a late lunch at some friends' house, which I'm really looking forward to. I tend to go to dinner with friends on weeknights; never really get invited to proper Sunday lunch and it feels very grown-up Grin
In between I'm going to catch up on Slow Horses and do some reading.

Loading up the campervan to take DS back to uni, then continuing on for a play-it-by-ear road trip in Wales.

@daffodilandtulip The first drop-off is brutal. I cried all the way home and again when I saw DS’s empty room. But it’s truly lovely seeing them spread their wings ~not to mention the tidy house~. Sending you ♥️ She’ll be back before you know it!

OldTinHat · 19/09/2024 14:06

After swearing I'd never get another dog after my best friend died three and a half years ago, I'm picking up a new doggo on Saturday!

I'm rehoming her, she's 8, so an old lady, and I'm going to give her the best life ever. I can't wait to see her whiskery face!

She's an absolute whirlwind and everytime I clean up her mess, I think about how tidy my house will be soon 🙈. Not to mention the piles of bags and boxes everywhere ready to move. But I've been fighting tears all week so I imagine I'll cry all the way home!

I have made a couple of plans to see friends on Sunday and booked a show for next weekend so hopefully it won't all be bad.
