Where have I hidden his grey school shorts?

At the start of summer I bought two pairs of grey school shorts for my little one who was starting school in Sept. He wore one pair the first two days back then, that weekend I washed and ironed them. Last week he wore trousers so I didn't look for the shorts, this week has been warmer again so I thought I would put him in shorts but I can only find the second pair that weren't worn and were still hanging in the wardrobe. What the hell have I done with the other pair? I have turned his room upside down, I have looked in my drawers and in the tumble drier but to no avail! This is definitely on me as he is non mobile and no-one else lives here.

Still inside the washing machine?

I've done another 3 loads since then, all ironed and put away so sadly not.

They will turn up just after your DS has a growth spurt and they no longer fit IME.

Have you checked everything that was in the tumble dryer/washing machine with the shorts, they're probably reasonably small and could be tucked down a sleeve or inside a duvet cover.

Well, you ironed them so they got that far in the laundry process. Maybe they've clung to the underside of any other garment in the ironing stack and been put away in a drawer with eg polo shirts or t-shirts? (This is usually what's happened when something goes astray at ours, although ironing uniform got old very quickly and I replaced anything that needed it with stuff that didn't!)

Do a walk through with the other pair.
Is there anywhere you could have put them down "for a second" and then they slipped off that surface and are down the back of something?

I had a false memory of having laundered an item and searched for it everywhere. Eventually I came across it - in the dirty laundry basket.

have you put something else on the same hanger to obscure them or have they been hung in your wardrobe with the other things you ironed
