Received wrong Vinted item but addressed to me

Anyone else had problems receiving the wrong item from Vinted but with your name and address on? The seller did not send it to me so I suspect the postal service/Vinted have mixed up the buyers. Vinted are being extremely slow in resolving the issue so I am still out of pocket and have someone else's item.

Did you click that everything wasn't ok? The seller needs to send a returns label - at their discretion whether or not they choose to pay for it and once the item is back you will be refunded.

I had this, I’d ordered a dress and got the wrong one. I messaged the seller who apologised, told me to keep it and sent the correct one straight away so no one involved vinted and she was very good about it.

Either the sender has mixed up packages sending the wrong item to the wrong person or they have used a drop off point without self printing and the collecting carrier has mixed packages when sticking the labels on

Use the “I have a problem” process

Vinteds return policy gives the option to sellers on whether or not returns are free to the buyer or not, but if the seller attempts to put a payable return on you then don’t accept

If it is the seller’s mix up they may provide you with a label that forwards to the correct buyer, and ideally another buyer has the same issue
Don’t accept closure until you satisfactorily get the result of the correct item or a refund

If it’s the carriers mixup then it’s between Vinted and the carrier, but either way you need resolution through Vinted from the seller and they need any relevant resolution via Vinted

Note that using the proper process in vinted, eBay etc isn’t a black mark against anyone ….. the dodgy sellers will do as much as they can to avoid the proper process so that things time out

A ‘dispute’ can always be ended amicably

I used vinted support which has been next to useless. Have now received a request to return the item even though the item is not the correct one. Despite me repeatedly telling them vinted insist I return it so I will. The seller is going to be mighty pissed off at receiving a completely different item to the one they sent.

Was it Inpost? It happened to me. I contacted support and uploaded photos. They did an investigation and both the seller and I received our money back. Inpost mixes up packages sometimes

The seller might have mixed up their parcels? Ie sent your item to another buyer and theirs to you?

Travelsalot · 18/09/2024 08:40

I use the drop off lockers frequently and I do worry that the carrier will put the wrong label on the parcel. I much prefer a drop off shop where they print the label in front of you. Or a self print label. I suppose a lot of people don't have printers.

Not really your issue though, just send it and get the refund.

Yes it was. Good to know it was resolved.

They were clear they had never owned the item I received.

Happened to me too, i sold a beautiful skirt and the buyer received a random item id never seen before.
Vinted were useless and inpost said there was nothing they could do. We both got refunded.
Such a pain

NigelDebster · 19/09/2024 09:54

Looks like InPost are the common denominator. I suppose this is the risk when you're leaving it to a 3rd party to confirm the address. Anyway the item has been 'returned' now.
