I do not enjoy travelling

Am I alone?

I've spent so much time writing lists, packing, packing for our dog and cats, cleaning the house, preparing the snacks and entertainment for DD, make sure the suitcases aren't too heavy, wrapping up the car seat to bring with us.

I am pregnant and exhausted. This afternoon we need to drive to the airport, find the car park, check in our bags, walk ten minutes to the hotel. There's all the paperwork we have to bring with us (paperwork to do with my pregnancy, boarding, the car park, the car rental at the other end, the hotel).

I find the entire thing exhausting and I don't enjoy it and never have, even before I had my DD

Love being on holiday but getting there is the pits

So why do it if you hate it? It’s not compulsory to go on holiday, and it’s certainly not compulsory to go on holiday while pregnant and with what sounds like a small child!

Well I don't blame you for thinking this way!

There isn't a chance in hell I'd go anywhere further than an hour or two for a break whilst pregnant, with another child, with pets and so on.

Is there any reason you all thought this would be a great idea given you are pregnant? Maybe you weren't when you booked. Oh and why are YOU doing all the pre travel work? Where's Daddy/DH/DP?

I have no pets or young kids and I find it hard enough to get through the mess of travelling just by myself!

Hope it all goes well for you anyway.

I hate travelling. I hate being away from home. So now the children are older and I don’t feel like I’m depriving them of a few days in Scarborough, I don’t bother. I never went abroad anyway.

I love the travelling as much as the holiday. But if I was doing all that without my DH helping I'd be unimpressed!

Surely he should be dropping you at the hotel and then sorting out the car park?
Take fewer clothes and use a washing machine wherever you are staying. Then you can just take hand luggage which is all we've done since children were toddlers.

Also you don't actually need paper any more. Just your phone, your credit card and your driving licence.

The travelling and preparing beforehand is super stressful and exhausting. I hate it as well. But I love it once I get there so end up going through all of the hellish bits regardless… every time I’m on that plane, I think, I’m never doing this again!

It was a holiday booked a while ago before I was pregnant and I didn't really have a choice tbh
