Abdominal pain and UTI - does it get worse before it gets better?

Hi All

I've had basically a UTI clusterfuck for the last 2 months. Apologies for colourful language but feeling sweary at the moment!

I have got culture results saying bug is enterococcus and is susceptible to co- amoxiclav so am pretty sure am on right antibiotic at last. Is resistant to many other types.

Thing is when I started taking it I began to feel worse. I've got the usual need the loo feeling but with burning pain sensation in my bladder and also what feel like spasms sometimes.

So my question is - is this normal? Does it sometimes get worse before it gets better?

Am on HRT as well - vaginal and systemic as am lady of a certain age.

Any wise words or experience gratefully received!

Xx

Could have gone into kidney. Be careful. You can take paracetamol too.

My GP advises two antibiotics at the start to give the uti a big fight, then normal dose. Alap advises me if I'm not feeling better after 48 hrs to go back.

@Kitkat1523 I'm still struggling with blasted enterococcus unfortunately. I think because it went unrecognised for so long it has really got a hold. Feeling a bit better but certainly not resolved.

I'm sorry got the same thing and I really hope it resolves for you quicker.
