Due to go to Italy tomorrow and for 6 of the 10 days we are there, it has forecast rain& thunder.
Would you still go or would you try and change it ?

Are you looking at hour by hour forecasts or just the symbol for the whole day? As often the forecast for the day will say thunderstorm but when you look hour by hour it’s actually dry all day but with a thunderstorm in the evening or night. You might well find the weather is like that - thunderstorm at some point but clear or at least dry a lot of the rest or the time.

In general I find holiday weather is usually better than the forecast!

I went to Florida once when it rained for 10 solid days out of 14. It was miserable tbh. So no, I’d reschedule if it was me, but that bad experience really put me off!

needhelpwiththisplease · 16/09/2024 12:02

Looking at hour by hour .
It's around the 50/ 60 percent rain each day each hour

Can you change it?? It’s not normally something that’s easily done.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 16/09/2024 12:03

50/50 isn’t bad. I’d pack a coat and brolly and go.

candycane222 · 16/09/2024 12:06

Depends how much you will lose if you reschedule. Italy has lots if interesting things to see indoors eg beautiful churches, art collections, Roman remain in museums etc - and fabulous shopping and eating. That foreccas certainly doesn't suggest it will be wall to wall rain.

But I get it's disappointing! Our recent holiday in europe was wetter than we hoped but we got to see some fascinating stuff we wouldn't have had time for if we'd been outdoors in the sun all the time. So although it was disappinting, 30% rain for us was only 10% disappointing IYSWIM

Oh dear my typing 😂

That probably means it’s going it rain at some point that day but they don’t know exactly when.

Where are you going? Is it a beach holiday that’s very dependent on sun? Or a city break?

needhelpwiththisplease · 16/09/2024 12:10

We planned on going to Sorrento, capri and Naples.
We still will even if raining.
It's not even because I can't laze by a pool or anything it's just disappointing that it won't be sunny.
We went to Lisbon earlier in the year and it flooded due to constant rain.
I don't think I've got that stamina to jolly along with it again

Check a reliable Italian weather site such as https://www.3bmeteo.com/ I live in Italy and I find it to be the most reliable.

Hotchocolate19 · 16/09/2024 12:58

We got back from Lake Garda last week and before we went it was forecast to rain 5 out of 7 days. Turned out we had two afternoons of rain and the rest of the time it was warm and sunny.

BrieHugger · 16/09/2024 13:08

Of course you should still go. I just looked at the forecast and I think it’ll be showery but not constantly raining. Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon are due to be sunny all day, then the week after that could easily change. It’s not going to be cold either, 25 - 27 ish. Chuck in a pacamac and crack on!

needhelpwiththisplease · 16/09/2024 17:11

@BrieHugger hope your weather is correct and mine is wrong 🤣

@needhelpwiththisplease hows the holiday? You must be nearing the end of it by now, hope you’ve had a lovely time and the weather has behaved!

user1471538283 · 26/09/2024 14:31

Oh do go! It rained one day when we were in Italy years ago but it wasn't like the freezing miserable rain here.

We were in the middle of a proper storm in Greece last year and whilst we got soaked once we still managed to see lots of things.

needhelpwiththisplease · 26/09/2024 16:41

@BrieHugger the weather has been glorious.
Had one thunderstorm yesterday on the way back from capri.
The rest of the rain was overnight.

That’s brilliant! ☀️

OrdsallChord · 26/09/2024 16:44

Will it be expensive to change it? If you could do it for like fifty quid I might, albeit weather in October isn't guaranteed to be better, but if it was going to be a lot I wouldn't. If you're looking at the forecast 11 days in advance it's not going to be that reliable anyway, they often change.

OrdsallChord · 26/09/2024 16:44

Ooh, just seen you're there already OP- glad it was wrong!
