Staying in London for 2 months - how?

BeretInParis · 15/09/2024 21:06

I'm staying in London for 2 months for work soon. They'll cover my accommodation in an apartment. Quite high end. Apart from obvious places like Airbnb, can anyone recommend websites or maybe estate agencies who could help please? I can choose my own place.

London is quite a broad area - it would help to narrow it down a bit by area - presumably close to where you work?

Where do you need to get to each day and is there a price cap per day/week on the accomodation? An apart hotel is another option, where you'd have a kitchenette to cook some basics and re-heat etc.

Thanks for your replies. I have a budget of up to £3000 pcm for a one bed flat in Zone 1. I'm looking for recommendations of websites, agencies, etc. Something with more personalisation than an aparthotel.

I'd look at Plum Guide - they're a bit nicer than average, I think.

You can search for short term lets on rightmove

mynameiscalypso · 15/09/2024 22:47

We've had short term lets via Foxtons before.

whoopdeedoo · 15/09/2024 23:15

Check out Veeve.com and also onefinestay - these are short term rentals of people’s high end homes in desirable locations in London (also Paris/NY etc). Like v posh Airbnb!

minipie · 15/09/2024 23:18

AirBnB and similar may be tricky because 1) there are rules against letting in this way for >90 days and 2) unlikely to have 2 clear months available.

Your best bet is to speak to estate agents about short term lets. These include all bills, are fully furnished etc. Some are owned by professional landlords and might be a bit anonymous but others are someone’s actual home which they are renting out eg while they work abroad temporarily.

Just to add - I’d probably call and ask Veeve/OFS if they have anything and see if a discount might be agreed for a longer term let than they would normally get. You may find someone with a project away, similar to you, who would be delighted to get the income!

Try Marlin apartments.

Commonsenseisnotsocommon · 15/09/2024 23:23

Try spareroom. They usually have a number of short lets available.

Just to add, will most likely be around Notting Hill, Bayswater, Paddington, Marylebone as handy for the office.

A friend of mine rents one of these in Plaistow. They are brand new and purposefully built for renters. They are based right next to Plaistow underground. Hers is a long term let but i think they do short term as well. Sorry I'm not sure how to put the link up but you can look on rightmove. I have screenshot it.

Did you post this in Brits in LA recently? Hope you find somewhere!

BeretInParis · 16/09/2024 10:32

Not me @AmberMariens but I guess it's a common enough request - which is why I thought I'd come to MN for a bit of advice. Will check out some of these options over the next day or two. :)

Pre-covid, I used to work abroad for several months of the year, and had this company manage my property(between zone 1-2). They were much smaller then, but I had no issues. The cleaning was always immaculate. I cannot comment on them now, because they have expanded so much, but might be another to enquire with.

Mondaytofriday.com is somewhere I used about 10 years ago but was very happy with. They are sometimes just for the working week, but depends on what is posted there.
