I keep seeing/hearing the word demure lately. Why? Why has it suddenly become popular?? Mostly on Instagram with stars either side so ✨️ demure 🌟

Tiktok trend.

bumpkinspiced · 15/09/2024 20:41

Yeah literally that, any action you do is “very demure, very mindful, very cutesy”

It blew up a bit more as someone bought the copyright to it before the original creator did. No idea what happened after that’s

It's Gen Z speak. It's bussin, no cap.

Olika · 15/09/2024 20:48

I don't know why but I cannot stand that word.

StoneTheCrone · 15/09/2024 20:53

I dont know but its just as irritating as 'elevated.' Everything is elevated these days apparently. You must elevate your outfit, yourself and your home.

TreesWelliesKnees · 15/09/2024 20:55

@StoneTheCrone Yes, as is 'curated'. So irritating!

Bjorkdidit · 15/09/2024 21:56

Also the way people 'grab' food and 'do' holiday destinations.

Last year we did Spain. Did you now? What all of it? I must have been about 50 times and I've barely scratched the surface of Andalusia and the Balearics, let alone the rest of the country.

But yes, I was irritated to learn that the crafting class I went to a few days ago was not just mindful, but also demure, apparently.

localnotail · 15/09/2024 21:59

Literally heard it from my DS tonight )) yes, tik tok/ youtube.

TheBeesKnee · 15/09/2024 22:03

There was a classical music radio presenter demonstrating how she introduced/ended a song and she said "see how I was very demure, very mindful" and everyone's basically taking the piss. It's turned into a meme.
