We are going to see Wicked at Apollo theatre next month. Can anyone recommend a restaurant close to the venue for dinner? We are looking for something that isn’t too formal but has good food.

Any recommendations at any price point would be appreciated.

There are a lot of restaurants around there but most of them are pretty rubbish in terms of food as they just cater to tourists/a passing crowd. The closest decent one is Rosa Thai - it's a chain but pretty good Thai food if you like that. If you're willing to walk a little bit further, Grumbles in Pimlico (less than 10 min walk) is a good French style bistro, or otherwise I would go into Belgravia or Chelsea for much better quality restaurants depending on how much time you have before or after the show.

It’s a desert for decent restaurants round there. Le Poule au Pot in Pimplico is lovely and yy to Grumbles too. If you’re really going to throw money at it, the restaurants and bar at the OWO are meant to be sensational but I haven’t found an expense account for good enough reason to pay myself yet! For more sane pricing - Colbert on Sloane Square is one tube stop away

We usually go to Lime Orange which is a little Korean restaurant or either the Market Halls Food Court.

Realise that Market Halls isn't a restaurant as such but the DCs like it!

Nightmanagerfan · 16/09/2024 09:32

Market Halls is great

If you like dim sum/Chinese you could try A. Wong, which is amazing if a little pricey

There is a new shopping mall at Victoria with several reasonable restaurants.

There are some decent places in Nova depending on what you want. Bone Daddies for Ramen for instance

I like Il Posto. Tiny Italian, food is nice. Definitely caters for theatre crowd, which is good if you want to get in and out reliably quickly. Very close to Apollo (and to Victoria Palace, where I am usually going).

There is a Turkish place called Kazan on Wilton Road that I have been to a few times, very friendly and great food.

At the more boring but cheapish and reliable end of the spectrum, Wagamamas in Cardinal place is a useful fallback position. Or even Nando's. Depends how much time you've got.

Thank you all for the suggestions Smile

There's a Shake Shack, a Bill's, a Five Guys and a Brown's all within a 3 minute walk.

GreenShady · 17/09/2024 19:08

Ah no the Browns is closed sorry. But there's a Giraffe, Nando's and a Wetherspoons maybe 5 mins away.
So there are your cheapo options 😊

Another vote for Il Posto on Vauxhall Bridge Road, a friendly family restaurant with all the Italian menu classics that's been going absolutely years.

Colosseo on Victoria Street is also a good bustling restaurant, pasta & pizza and also look out for the Menu Specials.
