Crystal and witchy type shops

Can anyone please recommend any towns or villages that have crystal and witchy type shops, second hand bookshops or quirky tea rooms... that sort of thing? I fancy taking myself for a day out soon and love these sort of shops!

York! The shambles is awesome.

TheDandyLion · 15/09/2024 20:15

Hay on Wye. More bookshops than crystals but there's one or two with some vintage shops too.

Buxton had some, but haven’t been for a while. Whitby is full of it

Mumsgirls · 15/09/2024 20:28

Forgot to say Whitby mobbed at weekend

I think Glastonbury is the sort of Mecca for that so if you haven’t been that should be on your list for sure

Camden, Waltham Abbey, Southampton

Given your location:

  • Hay on Wye
  • Brecon
  • Carmarthen
  • Crickhowell

We didn’t treat our witches as harshly as other nearest neighbours did during the Middle Ages, so we’ve held on to a lot of myth and mystery in our culture. I think 37 convictions and 5 deaths while witch-hunting was rampant elsewhere.

Avebury

Edinburgh definitely
Burley is just tourist tat - it did used to be really good though especially the witch’s coven
Totnes has a crystal shop but isn’t really ‘witchy’

TheaBrandt · 15/09/2024 21:15

Glastonbury has loads of those shops. And you can climb the tor. Its a good day out.

SweatySpaghetti · 15/09/2024 21:35

Boscastle or Tintagel 100%

Tumblingjungleofchaos · 15/09/2024 22:37

Edinburgh has loads of shops like this, plus stunning architecture, Mary kings close over the original plague pits, ghost tours, the JK Rowling/Harry Potter links and such a skyline - a huge castle on an ex volcano rock. It's a gorgeous place to visit solo, you can wander peacefully for hours.

Ely - small but perfectly formed. You can also visit the local museum for some good spooky fenland tales.

Haworth W Yorkshire

SnowFrogJelly · 16/09/2024 00:42

Glastonbury definitely

Colchester has two witchy shops - Wax Spiritual and Rocks and Rubies - and a number of others with a similar vibe, such as Traders of the East. And a second hand book shop near the library.

St Ives or Looe. Both Cornwall. Maybe Mousehole but I've not been there for a while.

Tintagel seems to be Witch Central in Cornwall.
Can't say I've noticed it in st Ives - too well healed!
