Feel extremely unwell and not sure what to do

I have got a sudden on set of fever, chills, nausea this evening. Extremely tired and shaking. My tummy and my back along the bottom hurts like mad. I'm waiting for 111 to call back. Anyone ever experienced this?

I need a handhold. DC asleep but it's just me and DC at home😫

Sounds like flu. Sometimes Covid, sometimes just other virus plays out like that. Not sure 111 can do anything.

Hernamewaslola22 · 14/09/2024 21:39

Flu? Gastritis? Hope you get some help soon to feel better.

VesperLind · 14/09/2024 21:40

Sounds like flu. Or possibly kidney infection. Hope you hear from 111 soon and that they don’t send you to A&E.

Any pain or burning when weeing? Sounds like cystitis or kidney infection.

WonderingWanda · 14/09/2024 21:43

Sounds like the way I felt with norvirus. Could be anything. Have you taken anything for the pain? If not get some painkillers in you, wrap up warm and try to get some rest. Will your kids sleep through the night or do you need to call someone to come and look after them?

DailyEnergyCrisis · 14/09/2024 21:43

Take paracetamol and sip fluids regularly. Calling 111 was the right thing to do.

BeMintBee · 14/09/2024 21:46

Could be covid I had awful sickness with it both times. But could be other things so Good idea to phone 111 if you’re worried, hopefully you’ll feel better soon and it’s just a nasty virus.

SBHon · 14/09/2024 21:47

Get on ubereats or similar and order a grocery delivery of painkillers and any drinks you like. If you feel up to it also some easy food for tomorrow that the kids can sort themselves if old enough.
Then put your phone ringer on loud (& charge it if it’s not already) and try to rest.

Hopefully it’s just a short virus and you’ll feel better very soon.

hellywelly3 · 14/09/2024 21:52

Get dosed up on some pain killers, a hot water bottle and get to bed. I hope you’ll feel better soon

mrsfollowill · 14/09/2024 21:53

Sounds like flu- I've had proper flu only x 2 in my lifetime and it hit me like a ton of bricks- very sudden. You will get through it eventually. Do you have anyone who can help with the DC tomorrow?- you may need them. If you haven't it will be a case of muddling through somehow- much sympathy to you it's bloody awful.

Baconrollage · 14/09/2024 21:58

Had this with (confirmed) Covid just a couple of weeks ago. Was in absolute agony with my back (and hips and legs) - close to tears it was so painful. Was very sudden onset, then the fever etc followed.

thegrumpusch · 14/09/2024 22:07

It's the fucking pits feeling unwell and also having to look after children - I'm sorry. Don't panic but do they to plan as much as you can - is there anyone who can help you tomorrow? Do you have medicine in the house?

Arafon · 14/09/2024 22:11

Sounds like flu or Covid, or maybe just another virus, having a temperature can bring on all those symptoms

828Pax · 14/09/2024 22:13

I had the flu and it hit me like a ton of bricks, exactly as you describe. Hope you feel better soon x

JacquiDaytona · 14/09/2024 22:15

This is exactly what I had yesterday! Sick, dizzy, diarrhea, nausea, weird cold symptoms - genuinely thought I was going to pass out in the shops. Bed at half 8, felt horrific this morning - now I’m drinking a glass of wine after some yoga. Bizarre and very short lived - hope yours is too!

Delphigirl · 14/09/2024 22:16

Lots of covid around at the moment. I hope it passes as quickly as it started.

CassandraWebb · 14/09/2024 22:19

I hope you get a call back soon.
Is there anyone you can call to come round? Or at least to be on standby if you get worse
(Have been on my own with kids, I know it's not always that simple)

The tummy /back pain makes me think you should make sure you get checked out

BugBugTheTornado · 14/09/2024 22:24

Had very similar this week!

Monday I took a pregnancy test - genuinely thought I was pregnant, as felt like I had the early stage symptoms - gripey tummy, nausea, knackered. Negative (phew!) and felt largely ok until Tuesday lunchtime when I bloated massively, and fell asleep on the sofa, Tuesday evening/night I was vomiting and curled up on the floor with stomach cramps... was wfh on Wednesday feeling pretty normal! DH, DD and DMum have all had the same.

Have had slight stomach cramps all week on and off, and been pretty wiped out with tiredness, but the worst was over very quickly!

Noseybookworm · 14/09/2024 22:28

I've got covid and have been like this all week - vomiting, diarrhoea, chills, aching all over, headache, sore throat, heart racing and jumping out of my chest- it's been grim 😫 this is the 3rd time I've had it, first 2 times was just like a rotten cold. This time has felt very different 😳

Odd - this was also the third time I had it, and had similar, minus the vomiting only. This has been the worst bout I had (though I did need antibiotics for a lingering chest infection the first time), second time I had horrendous body pain at the onset, and this last time was the worst. Also had the heart racing, sore throat, chills and nausea. The body pain was honestly like nothing else. And I'm rather used to pain with chronic illness. I think I did actually shed a tear at one point.

Perhaps a new strain, that effects some people badly.

Hernamewaslola22 · 14/09/2024 22:37

How are you doing @Whattooodooo ? Have 111 called back yet? They've always been very good in my experience.

Identical experience with COVID a few weeks ago. Confirmed as COVID by throat swab in hospital. I was admitted to hospital as I was really struggling to breathe and cope with the pain. Still really achey a few weeks on. Hoping it eases soon. Hope you feel better soon OP.

Thanks, hope you are starting to feel better. End of week 2 was definitely the turning point for me in getting better.
