Edinburgh to Burgh Island. Where should we visit enroute?

DH and I are going to Burgh Island (South Devon coast) for a couple of days next month. We are driving down from Edinburgh and I'm looking for recommendations of where to stay on our journey. We'll have 6 days to get to Burgh Island. We thought a day or 2 in Bath maybe? The Dorset and Devon coasts look stunning. Where are our must see places?

Lucky you- Burgh Island is fab! Take a wetsuit and do some bodyboarding or surfing at Bantham, then go for supper at the Village Inn in Thurlestone!

On the way, stop at Liverpool for some art at the Tate (check if it has reopened) and visit the Antony Gormley sculptures on the beach just up the coast (check tide times). Stay at the very cool Titanic Hotel.

Then Bath is a good shout for something totally different, especially if you happen to like Jane Austen.

You could also look for a cosy hotel on the eastern side of Dartmoor, and have a day walking at Dartmeet or Haytor or thereabouts.
