Music magpie or Ziffit

AgnesX · 14/09/2024 11:49

Music magpie...you'll get peanuts though.

If you've anything niche eBay is better as you'll get more.

NailedUp · 14/09/2024 11:50

Cds are like 4 for £1 in charity shops. I don't think you would get much

Cantthinkofadifferentname · 14/09/2024 11:50

Unless they are unusual, you'll get pennies for them. Local charity shop sell 5 for £1

Nookable · 14/09/2024 11:52

You could try something like ziffit or we buy books. You download an app and scan the barcodes and then it tells you if they will buy it or not (depends on what they currently have in stock).

Hard to make money off them though. You have to have a minimum of £5.00 worth of stuff or 10 items. I recently went through maybe 60ish DVDs scanning them all and because so many weren't being bought I only ended up with 6 items worth about £3 so was under the sale limits.

bestbefore · 14/09/2024 11:52

There's an app called we buy books which also buy cds. Can scan them. That's probably the quickest way

A local craft group may buy a bulk lot?

CDs are not going to raise any money, unless you have particularly a particularly rare CD they are basically worthless.

Different projects? I've seen lots of sun catchers/dream catchers/mobiles and things for sale at our local craft place. I mean you wont get a lot obviously but might be easier than selling online and having to post etc lol

Carboot, FB Marketplace, eBay, Ziffit, eBay, Vinted?

Pumpkittenspice · 14/09/2024 17:47

I’d just sell them bulk via MusicMagpie or Ziffiit. It’s probably the easiest way to make some money from them. The money will be a tiny amount, but it’ll be better than nothing…

I saw in a crap mag , think along the lines of pick me up , someone had strung CDs together as a feature in their garden.
It looked like strung together CDs hung up and looked... well I'll let you decide.

I hadn't realised that was a feature, I thought it was to deter birds from fruit growing in the garden.

OP it sounds like you want the money rather than just to clear space or avoid landfill. I'd scan them into ziffitt and music magpie and another one and look at how much you get from each. Then split the lot - those where MM gives the most money send there, etc. Anything where you can't get anything sell to the crafters for pennies. Good luck! I hope you get what you need!

Love51 · 14/09/2024 18:24

I was assuming normal cds. Anything signed or rare, try ebay or a collectors site.

MonsteraMama · 14/09/2024 18:29

How many do you have? Most places being recommended by pp will give you 1p-10p each for them, so unless all you want to buy is a Freddo OR you've got thousands of CDs, it's not really worth the effort it'll take to do. Chucking them in a box and taking to a carboot would be easiest, but that's assuming someone will buy them.

It was definitely billed as a feature not the bird scaring tactic.

I know that certain Northern soul CDs can obtain decent price but if it's bought in Tesco type.. worth bugger all.

TylerD · 14/09/2024 18:35

I still use CDs and cassettes, exclusively. Never liked downloading or streaming. What do you have OP? Message me with details if you like.
