9 month cruise around the world

I’ve just been reading about this. The ship left the UK in December and has just returned. If money was no object would you do it? £60K I think each.

If money is no object no I wouldn't but if I could afford it and had no family worries then yes. Will be for people who are childless or whose children are adults.

Where can I read about this?

God, no. Stuck for nine months in a floating hotel of the same 2500 people, possibly in a cabin with no natural light, with only very short stays at ports?

FrenchandSaunders · 14/09/2024 09:17

Looking at the itinerary it really is a fleeting time in each place.

That's what cruises are like! I call them holiday tapas.

I would 100% love to do a world cruise. A lot of people do portions of it so 3 months at a time and do that yearly so they see the world over a number of years.

Id be done for murder if i was on this

BigDahliaFan · 14/09/2024 09:21

Nope. For thst kind of money I'd travel round japan or Europe by train and stay in lovely hotels.

Honestly I'd kill someone if I was on it for more than a weekend.

FrenchandSaunders · 14/09/2024 09:21

Holiday tapas 🤣love it

I’d do it if I thought I could be extremely disciplined about what I ate and drank.
I’ve been on a final portion of a world cruise, and the people who had been on from the start were really jaded and couldn’t wait to get off. And that was a luxury small ship brand.

I would need to be rolled off a 9 month world cruise like jabba the hutt. 🤣🤣 that much food for 9 months! Although I would probably be more restrained than when I am on a 1 or 2 week cruise.

HelenWheels · 14/09/2024 09:25

there is a 3 year global cruise, stuck in Belfast.
i would not do that
nor would i do the 9 month cruise and not keen on the idea of a 2 week cruise

CocoapuffPuff · 14/09/2024 09:28

You couldn't get me on one of those things for a weekend, never mind 9 months.
I've watched YouTube videos by seasoned cruisers, and the thing that really struck me is the noise. There's noise everywhere, it's NEVER quiet. Nowhere.
I'd be killing random strangers within 12 hours.

FrenchandSaunders · 14/09/2024 09:33

I didn’t think of the food! And the drink. I usually drink every day on hols and eat what I want …. imagine that for 9 months. I’d be five stone heavier and need a liver transplant 😳

That Belfast cruise! 😳

Some of you have very odd ideas about cruises 😳🤣 - you’re not stuck in a tiny windowless room unless you specifically choose an inside cabin (which some do as it’s much cheaper), you can have a balcony etc, whatever you like.

Most ships have a couple of buffet restaurants and the rest are just like normal restaurants with lots of different options - P and O Iona has about 20 different restaurants on top of the main dining options. And then you get to eat out at all the different ports too if you like.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 14/09/2024 10:16

I've seen quite a bit of this on tik tok, quite a few left early. Apparently you got 80% back if you booked it as separate legs.

Planesmistakenforstars · 14/09/2024 10:58

No, not for me - I would hate it. I've cycled round the world a couple of times though - see more, eat more, and much cheaper!
