Bristol secondary schools - Ashton park

*reposting from schools thread to hopefully get some responses!

Hi! We are planning a move to Bristol and love the bedminster area. Does anyone have any insight on Ashton Park secondary school ? Its progress scores/results are not hugely appealing but I've seen it is fast improving. If you know of or have kids there - what's the school /learning culture like amongst the pupils? For us this is key as we both attended a school (in another city and a long time ago!) where you got knocked down (by other kids) if you worked hard and we don't want that for our kids..
Any insight/recent experiences will be so appreciated.. it's so hard to judge from reports!

Thank you

Ive Just visited Ashton Park and really impressed. Lived in the area for 10+ years and in the past few years there’s been a big improvement at Ashton Park - new headteacher. Friends who have children there are very impressed & children happy too. Keeping my fingers crossed it continues on that trajectory.

My child has just started St Mary Redcliffe but loads went to Ashton Park from his year 6 class. Parents were apparently very impressed.

Oasis Temple Quarter (a new school) and St Mary Redcliffe are with a look as well

Thank you both! Really encouraging.
@JlL2013 would you mind sharing which primary school that was? Pm me? We are moving into area so considering which are the 'feeder' primaries also.

Mine are both in Ashton Gate primary which is amazing, as is Southville Primary. Most from those schools will be going to go Ashton Park with a few to St Mary Redcliffe, St Katherine’s, Cathedral & a few to private. My understanding is that St Mary has a good weighting on religion, and applicants/families need to attend church (which is why lots don’t apply).
Backwell has a fantastic reputation, so if you chose to live in Long Ashton you’d likely get in.
Ashton Park sent a couple to Oxbridge last year.

@MovingMahem I think most Primary Schools in Bedminster are feeder schools to Ashton Park so I'd not worry about that too much.

@MovingMahem which area are you moving to? Or is that dependent on schools?
