We spend around 25 pounds for 2 weeks from the butchers. Family of 5, 2 adults, one child, one toddler and one baby.

Hardly anything. I'm not a vegetarian but i don't buy much meat. But if eating out I have steak and other meat dishes. But very rarely at home.

FuckThePoPo · 12/09/2024 23:08

About £50

Kleptronic · 12/09/2024 23:43

I can't price it to a week. Or a month/quarter/year really. I've got a freezer, a decent wage, a well stocked store cupboard, know how to cook and a credit card. I buy depending on the season, events, who I'm catering for, where I am, what's going cheap, how much time I have, etc. etc.

I am a very, very fortunate omnivore.

NoSnowdrop · 13/09/2024 10:44

How many times a week do you wonder if you're being a bit of a twat ? I'm guessing the answer isn't zero

Same amount of times I encounter creeps on the internet.

Onelifeonly · 13/09/2024 10:49

I usually buy a pack of 3 to 4 chicken breasts every week or two weeks - use for one or two meals depending on who eats it (in sauce, with veg). One pack of minced beef every week or two. A pack of sausages every so often (once a month). Cooked ham and chicken for sandwiches weekly. Not much else - and then only occasionaly. . We don't eat it every day. I guess around £10 to £12 a week for a family of 4.

#creeps on the internet 🤣

We lost our butcher beginning of the year and I don't have the time to drive around for another one.
So, we buy organic/free range from Waitrose or Sainsbury

This week:
2x chicken breasts - around £15 (can go up to £20 in some weeks)
1x pack of 6 sausages -£3.50 - not a weekly food

other meat was 2 sausages out of the freezer, not used from a BBQ 2 weeks ago.

In other weeks there is a pack of beef mince and maybe some pork as well, so another £10 maybe.

I love Parma/Serrano ham so we normally have one pack per week for my lunch.

I stopped buying steaks as decent ones are hugely expensive, I prefer to eat out if I crave one.

evtheria · 13/09/2024 11:07

Approx £10-15 per week as part of a Tesco or Aldi shop:
• on unprepared meat (eg. plain, raw chicken breasts) and a couple packets of deli/sandwich meat
• 2 adults & 1 older kid
• I personally might just eat it once or twice a week, they eat meat more often

Oh my gosh, probably about £100 for two adults 😂 which sounds ridiculous looking at all of the answers!!

I always buy the best I can, a roast chicken is often £15+ for a free range / corn fed etc one. I love buying from our butchers which again isn't cheap. We do tend to eat meat 2 times a day or so which definitely ups the cost.

InWithPeaceOutWithStress · 13/09/2024 11:21

£25-£30 for 2 adults. We look for free range, organic etc. We might have a roast chicken, chicken breasts, fish fillets (salmon or trout), and red meat (burgers or steak) once a week. I’d like to get grass fed meat delivered but it’s more expensive again.

PetrichorSoul · 13/09/2024 11:22

We’re both mostly carnivore, no veg so we spend around €70 a week on meat. Mostly beef and lamb with pork, chicken and bison.

sunsetsandboardwalks · 13/09/2024 11:27

I spend about £8 for me including fish. Mostly turkey for sandwiches, fish cakes and the occasional pack of sausages.

TwistedSisters · 13/09/2024 11:28

Hmm, not sure exactly as we just buy it with our normal food shop, but we have meat with virtually all our evening meals. Typical week - meatballs, chicken breasts, roast joint of some sort, steaks, maybe salmon fillets. I use the butcher to buy a big 5kg box of chicken fillets and then I bag them all up in 2s and freeze, also use them for large joints of meat for entertaining. Otherwise tend to just get supermarket meat.

DustyMaiden · 13/09/2024 11:29

This week
beef joint £25
minced beef £10
fillet steak £36
chicken £10

I think there must be a a wide range of prices across the country.

Jk987 · 13/09/2024 11:31

Veggie is best but we have a bit of meat.

AuntieMarys · 13/09/2024 11:32

We eat meat about twice a month so maybe £10-15 for 2 of us

caringcarer · 13/09/2024 11:39

This week I bought 6 chicken breast, 750g of lean minced beef, 6 medallion pork steaks, 4 cod fish cakes, 4 southern fried coated chicken steaks, sausages one pack of 10 Cumberland and one pack of 1/2 fat, 2 cartons of spicy chicken skewers for lunch box and a packet of corned beef for 2 people for a week. Approximately £43. I'm not roasting this Sunday as going out but most other Sundays so £12 for a joint of meat or £9 for whole chicken.

FlippityFloppityFlump · 13/09/2024 11:42

For 2 adults and a hungry 11 year old DS, this week we've bought pork fillet for Sunday lunch, 600g lamb which did slow cooker curry for 2 nights for 3 people, free range chicken breast for sandwiches/pesto pasta salad for lunch for DS and a pack of chicken thighs which I'm cooking now for soup.

We also had a pack of pork and tomato kebabs in the freezer which we had on Monday (edit)

I think we may also have had a pack of ham at the weekend.

The chicken breast was yellow label so bought it. Will generally try to do tuna, egg or cheese for lunches.

We eat more meat than I would like - I enjoy veggie dishes but I need to eat low carb for health reasons and that is not as easy with veggie and trying to get prepped for the week.

BobbyBiscuits · 13/09/2024 11:47

Two packs of bacon, maybe three chicken breasts. I guess thats about £10-12. Between two. The bacon mainly gets eaten by someone else! I love it though.
I tend to eat a lot of tinned tuna, beans and fresh salmon and veggie stuff more than meat.
I like to save things like pork and lamb for when I go out to eat, at a Greek restaurant which is my fave. Not that I do that particularly often.
I live near quite a good butchers but they sell everything in such massive packets that I'd have no room for anything else in the freezer.

StolenChanel · 13/09/2024 11:49

Between £20-£30 a week.

Shade17 · 13/09/2024 11:52

£50-£100 probably but it varies on what we fancy eating. I can spend £100 on meat for one meal.

FpTr3952fHp · 13/09/2024 12:06

Very approximately £20 just for me. From sainsburys.

Mygreyhair · 13/09/2024 12:23

I read the title too quickly as ‘How much do you spend on whisky neatly?’ 😳🤣

SteaknSalad · 13/09/2024 12:37

Around £25 - £35 a week for two adults on meat & fish. That’s for 7 days of lunches & dinners. I feel healthiest when I eat a fairly high protein diet.

This is what we’re spending on meat this coming week, for example:

  • Sunday roast chicken, £4
  • Leftover chicken & bacon paella, £2
  • Minced beef chili, £4.99
  • Creamy haddock pasta, £7.50
  • Sweet and sour pork, £5.50
  • Steak night £10

Total: £33.99

With the haddock and steak this is a little more expensive than usual.
