What colour is burgundy?

Apparently, burgundy is one if ‘the’ colours this autumn/winter, but what colour is it?

I’ve just done a search on a major retailer, and the results varied. The majority of results were a browny-y purplish colour, but there was also Red, berry, wine and brown!

I instantly thought brown/purple. Red didn’t even come to mind!

Buy a bottle of burgundy wine and use that as your guide?

Dark red. Like the colour of the red wine from burgundy I guess? But for me Maroon is also that sort of colour? Like garnet red.

Surely there are various shades of burgundy, just like there are various shades of any other colour?

both are usually quite dark. How much red vs brown or purple can make different colours that would still class as burgundy or maroon.

Not really. If it isn't the colour of burgundy, then it isn't burgundy. It is something else. Like 'plum' for instance.
