My one year old is just whinging. Whinge whinge whinge. She cries to be picked up but then if I dare sit down with her goes mental but not good enough to be expected to sit on the floor and play either.

Meanwhile four year old is being ignored.

is it bedtime yet.

Get outside for a while or pop them in a big bubbly bath together(or both). Always worked for mine when they were small!

AnneLovesGilbert · 12/09/2024 13:52

Put them both in the bath.

💐
Make/buy big sugar free squash icelollies, that used to keep my toddler quiet for 5 mins.

Not massive bath fans here. But your children must be v clean.

Second that.
Or I'd do a jaunt on the tram to the train station, ogle a train or two and head home again (Manchester). Only cost me one adult tram ticket.
Watching the world go by out of the window amused baby and little one.

Sympathies though op.

Maybe you don't want ideas and that's fine.

Sometimes it's just rubbish... I don't miss those days. But, having said that, the time and emotional energy I invested then has given me a pair of fun kids 11 and 14 now... if that vision of the future is any consolation which it isn't when you're tearing your hair out. 😬🤣🙃🫠🥴

It isn’t that the ideas are bad just that absolutely nothing can really reach DD when she’s like this. She’s also refused lunch so will be hungry and crabby all afternoon. It’s a phase I am sure. A long one!

I second take them out for a walk in the pushchair. Cuddle up and read stories or stick a film on.
Nap time?

CleopatrasBeautifulNose · 12/09/2024 14:37

Awwww, sympathies to you all.
Those 'this isn't going to get any better' days are awful, all you can do is survive them.
I survived better outside the house personally, the crying doesn't sound as bad outside and it's harder to commit murder in public. 😉😬
