Please talk to me about down duvets

I'm looking for a new duvet. It's a bloody minefield. I want natural fiber but absolutely not wool or feather (I started a thread about this a couple of weeks back).

After some digging (and reading this article), it's looking like down is a good option. But I'm after some thoughts from real people if that's okay. So, please tell me anything and everything about your down duvets!
Are they warm? Do they go flat? Are they easy to wash? What should I be particularly looking for? Where did you get yours from? Would you recommend that retailer?

Thank you so much!

Natural filling duvet - not wool or feather | Mumsnet

Help! I'm after a new natural filling duvet but not sure what to go for. I've driven myself half mad today going round and round duvet review and test...

I have a hungarian goose down one from john lewis and it's heavenly.

switched to goose down - decided to invest and I love it so much! Find them great for temperature - not too hot or cold unlike some other ones I’ve had.

Down is feather, OP. Just soft under-feathers.

I have one from John Lewis. Absolutely love it.
Feels luxurious and cozy. Great in all temperatures.
Mine can go in the washing machine if it is big enough.
Doesn't go flat. I did get a little hole in it so feathers started to come out but I just stitched it up x

@TiredBoredGay I bought some bamboo bed lined from Panda a few weeks back and didn't really think too much of it. So I'm a bit cautious of bamboo now.

What I need is a good half-day in a duvet warehouse where you can actually touch and feel duvets of different kinds. Why do these places not exist? 😭

So, am I right that down duvets won't go flat like feather ones do?

Where did you get it from, please? Is it 100% goose down?

I’m not a vegan or anything like that but I have seen how down is often harvested and it’s horrendous. It doesn’t always come from birds slaughtered for their meat once they are dead.
As I say I am not against eating meat but if there is a cruelty free alternative as in all the other options available today I would go for one of those.

Thanks @Nannydoodles
That's a really important point to consider, thank you 😊
