I normally have a rule of not before October, but I’ve crumbled recently, the house felt so damp.

Went on for a couple of hours this morning. I'm not going to feel cold, no matter what month it is.

DH just texted to say it’s snowing in Canary Wharf. 😱

I rely on the thermostat, I leave it at 18° between 7 am and 10pm all year round, 12° overnight. But last evening I felt really cold so was tempted to lower the thermostat so that it came on for a couple of hours but I decided to go to bed early to read my book.

I suspect I will turn on the heating soon if it remains chilly outside, I really don’t like being cold indoors and having had damp problems previously, I try to keep the house at a lowish level all the time, boosting it when necessary.

No. It really isn't all that cold. A bit chilly early of a morning so the fleece goes on but then back to a regular cardy mid morning on my work from home days.

This is not anything to do with feeling uncomfortable but wanting to delay the switch on like some badge of honour. When I feel cold it goes on whether that's September or December. But it's currently twelve degrees outside and I am still perfectly comfortable in a light cardy.

We seem to have moved to a culture where the slightest chill and the heating gets wacked on. Given the gradual move towards an overweight population this does seem backwards.

Very sensible approach, everyone is an individual, and homes are all different, even the locality you live can have temperature differences, I think some people need to loosen their judgy pants a bit. I've only been on this site a day, and by heck people are swift to try and shame/look down on/judge others! Wondering why I was even tempted!

Wow really, not a joke? That is crackers if so!!

I've got a heated throw on the sofa which I use, my house is quite big and draughty so I heat myself instead of the whole house.

Heated seats in the car these past few mornings (not needed the heated steering wheel… yet!)

At home, I’ve needed a hot water bottle the past two nights, and the children have got their Oodies out!

I am holding off on putting the heating on, but if it gets colder than this I may need to crack and put it on, but the expense!!

Mine heated seat and steering wheel came on automatically yesterday - it was just shy of 10c . DH put the heating on last night. Dog had been to the vet and he thought she looked cold 🙄

Heating on for ninety minutes this morning. 😐

Medical24 · 12/09/2024 20:47

Not yet, heating set to 19, but hasn't come on yet.
