It's feeling fresh and crisp on the dog walks....

Got the Winter duvet on, used my heated throw for the first time last night...feeling cosy.

Planning to make an apple cake this weekend and Strictly begins.

Autumn is my favourite month.

Am I on my own?

Autumn is a season not a month.

I like it if it's crisp and dry. Damp, wet and grey no thanks.

loudbatperson · 12/09/2024 07:50

Me! I do very poorly in the heat, so it feels great to have the cooler weather moving in.

I also adore the colours, smells and shorter days, although I know I am in the minority for that one.

K0OLA1D · 12/09/2024 07:51

If it was dry and crisp, yeah it would be lovely. But they are few and far between. Grey and damp and dark. Is shit.

Absoloo · 12/09/2024 07:51

I love it but Autumn isn't a month.

TheActualAudacity · 12/09/2024 07:53

I love the colours of a good Autumn (it’s a season….).

I hate weather that is grey, drizzly, damp and cold.

I miss the heat.

AuntieMarys · 12/09/2024 07:53

Me! I revel in crisp mornings, autumn leaves and dark evenings. I get so much done! For me September is the start of a new year

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 12/09/2024 07:54

As long as it’s not grey, damp and raining great. Today; just beautiful. Blue sky, sunshine.

It's not stopped raining here since Sunday. It's miserable. Yesterday the sun peaked out for all of 10 minutes

MontyVerdi · 12/09/2024 07:55

Love autumn too. Except for dying wasps and the fact that days are very short where I am in Winter.

But yes - I love the cosiness, the fallen leaves, the new academic year, Halloween etc

MontyVerdi · 12/09/2024 07:56

And my child is back at school [cackles]

Butterflyfern · 12/09/2024 08:00

I love the clothes. The burgundies, browns, mustards and oranges really suit my colouring and the textures (cord, satin etc) become much more interesting. I buy more clothes this time of year than any other. Unfortunately, this year i am pregnant, so having to stare longingly at all the lovely things that either won't fit or are not worth buying for the sake of a couple of months.

I do miss the warmth and sunny weather of summer though, and the light mornings. Tbh, I think every season has good and bad bits, which I think puts me at a MN minority!!

Not the point of the thread at all but yes I do ........ Autumn is my year old grandchild 😀

SunnieShine · 12/09/2024 08:09

I love autumn and today is perfect autumn weather, crisp with a blue sky (South East).

Just had my first bowl of porridge with apple, cinnamon and syrup and feeling pretty good.

Oh yes, I come alive in autumn. I make comfort food, go for walks in the wood, get the electric blanket out. Here in Somerset the early mornings are foggy and beautiful, the birds are out in force preparing for migration, the leaves are turning. I am in my element.

Puzzlemad · 12/09/2024 09:01

Yes by far the best season of the year.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 12/09/2024 09:04

adore it my favourite season

BrigadierEtienneGerard · 12/09/2024 09:05

Yes, best time of the year. Love it.

Changeiscomingthisyear · 12/09/2024 09:10

To be fair OP I would love autumn if it was just September. I do love September, temp is starting to change but often still sunny, crispy leaves, leaves starting to change. By October when the leaves are a soggy mess and there is driving rain and wind from the North Sea I’m over it.

dramafarm · 12/09/2024 09:55

I love autumn. I love all stages of it, right from the early stages in September where the air is just starting to feel chilly in the mornings, right up until early December when it's dark, bare and Christmas is in the air.
I find joy in all seasons, but I feel more comfortable in autumn. I live on the edge of a large rural area and I love going for walks to see how the leaves have changed. I love opening my windows and French doors and allowing the cool breeze to blow through the house. I'm not really a 'snuggly' person; I actually prefer to be a bit on the cold side!

ParisGellerFTW · 12/09/2024 10:03

Yes, me! And I like damp and grey and rainy as much as cold and crisp, so I'm easy to please. Pouring down here right now and I've made a pot of coffee and turned the telly on to find old Frasier eps on channel 4. Perfect. Frasier feels like an autumn show to me (just me who assigns seasons to favourite TV shows?!)

I too love grey, cold days and all kinds of inclement weather, whether I'm inside or out.

Also love the dark evenings ...heated throw, a good bbc drama, hot chocolate and, someone mentioned upthread, the promise of Christmas.

However, living in the SE, we rarely see snow...
