Just found an Apple Watch - how do I reunite it with its owner?

Good morning, my DH just found an Apple Watch on the pavement and brought it in to stop it being nicked but now I have no idea how to reunite it with its owner. There are no messages, WhatsApp’s or calls on it and that’s about the extent of my ideas.

I will post on street WhatsApp too

is there a nifty trick anyone knows about how to contact the owner?

thanks!

I think the only way to locate the owner is if they put it in lost mode.

Do you have an iphone? What happens if you bring the watch close to the phone?

Ah okay thanks, I’ll see if that happens

I do and I’ve tried that but neither device did anything. Thank you for your suggestion though!

I found a Fitbit last year on our street. I looked at the number of steps that day and it was only a couple of hundred so from that, I gathered it was most likely someone who lived on our street. I knocked on a few doors and it was reunited with its owner quite quickly.

Also try putting it on your local community Facebook page.

Thanks, I’ve had a look at the step count and it’s huge! Our street is on the route to a train station and primary school so I guess it could be anyone’s but I will post on Facebook too

Is there any emergency medical info stored on it? It might have an In Case of Emergency number stored on it that you can access without unlocking.

Failing that, just try the local FB page.

If you have an iPhone then I think the network will pick it up and eventually the owner will notice it’s missing and be able to find you/it.

cityrookie · 11/09/2024 10:31

You could try sending Apple an email. Aren't all devices linked to an account?

You could leave your number at the train station and primary school in case anyone goes there asking if it’s been handed in.

No ICE number sadly but thank you for suggesting it

Ah hopefully! I can’t find any other way of contacting them

The owner should be able to track it via their phone using the “find my” app. So I’d sit tight and wait. If you put something on fb don’t put too much info on just to prevent anyone saying it’s theirs.

Tryingtokeepgoing · 11/09/2024 11:00

Is it unlocked then? Can you see anything under 'contacts' that might be helpful? Or in 'messages'?

Yes it’s unlocked but there's nothing under contacts, messages, WhatsApp etc
