What would you do if this was your neighbour?

Neighbour - elderly man, moved into area about 4 months ago. He doesn't really speak to anyone, doesn't look up if he is outside which is rare. Late Saturday night there was an ambulance there for about 40 mins. Couldn't see if he went with them or not. Don't think so as both paramedics sat in the front.
Next day Sunday we put a note through his door saying we noticed ambulance , if he needs any groceries or help please call.
No response to this and no sign of him. No bins out yesterday or today. Husband knocked at door but no answer.
What would you do now?

Using torches to see if a light is on? 🙄

Yes. A friend of mine didn’t respond to texts during COVID- I live in a different part of the country. I asked the police to do a welfare check. He didn’t answer the door to them and they broke in and found that he’d died.

Thanks for the answer. So sorry to hear about your friend :(

Any update @needingadviceandthoughts ?

needingadviceandthoughts · 14/09/2024 19:23

Update: neighbour is alive and well and was in Turkey for a week 🤷‍♀️ cat was in cattery! He says he knows nothing about the ambulance. The neighbours saw it too otherwise I would be thinking I was going mad. Alls well that ends well 🤷‍♀️

@needingadviceandthoughts that is a great update !

Ineffable23 · 14/09/2024 19:41

Phew! That's a good outcome, so glad it has a happy ending!

Isthiscorrect · 14/09/2024 20:09

Maybe time to get him to consider a plan in case of a similar situation in future.
But good news for you. And well done for checking.

Littleoakhorn · 14/09/2024 20:17

What’s nice is that now your quiet neighbour knows that you and others care about him.

FuzzyDiva · 14/09/2024 20:23

You did say those with the ambulance were both sat in the front. It’s possible they just parked there for convenience for a lunch break.

Glad all is ok with your neighbour and cat.

Pudmyboy · 14/09/2024 20:43

Well I bet that's not the outcome most people thought would occur!
Good for you and the neighbours for acting on your concerns, it's very civic minded of you all, and I hope he appreciates it (even if it's expressed as concern for the cat!).
