Went to WMSP yesterday. Enjoyed it far more than longleat and those lodges look amazing and actually add to the experience driving around. As we were leaving we go to the older bit with creepy crawlies and aquarium. Think walking around this looks really old and run down and small tanks and probably needs to go. In the locust bit, think wow they really need to fix those cages as it looks like they’ve eaten through the back of the walls.
Walk around the corner and reading the next sign and fuck me there’s a giant locust thing, huge on the sign. We both think it must be a fake plastic one but it was well and truly alive, moving, real, and escaped from a tank. It did not look anywhere near native. If one was out the back of the tank and in the main bit a few tanks along where people are he won’t have been the only one, it was dark and we didn’t look for more. We only saw it as we were trying to make the most of it and read every sign. The ceiling could have been crawling and you wouldn’t see. My DH tried to google ID it whilst I took some pictures but it was too blue with the light to identify. We wanted to get out of there and not near enough. But you can see the scale from the poster size, the poster is the size of a door.
There were no staff around and we didn’t see anyone until we saw the guy at the exit gate. We told him and he was like “in the walkway”, and we told him which sign, yes really they are loose. He radioed someone and no one came after us or was interested in pointing it out so I hope they found all that escaped.
I have grasshoppers in my garden of various varieties and this was no U.K. grasshopper, it was identical to the giant things in the tanks!! The tank with the holes in the concrete that they were digging through………
