About memories that can’t possibly be real.

Does anyone have any memories from childhood that seem so bizzare that they couldn’t possibly be true but yet you still remember them as clear as day.

I remember my dad taking me to the local pub. Not a rare occasion in 1980s. Anyway I made a friend there and we were running around and playing together. She had long black straight black hair in bunches and was wearing a floral dress. (This is relevant) Anyway fast forward sometime me and my Dad went back into the pub and the said girl was there again. However this time was entirely different. She had short blond hair with a pixie cut and was wearing a leather jacket a white top and a pair of jeans and ankle boots. I know people can change but it wasn’t just her appearance that had changed it was her whole personality. She was sat there with a glass of wine.
I can’t actually remember how I knew it was her. I even remember saying to here. Do you remember when you were a kid like me and we were playing, When was that? “Last year”.she said and I replied How come you’re a lady now and she said “Oh just I turned into an adult.” Therefore in the course of a year she gone from a playful child the same age as me to a grown adult within the course of a year.

I distinctly remember seeing a panda in a thicket of bamboo that was on my way home from school - I must have been 5/6? Obviously not real but my brain tells me it was 😄

Why isn't it a dream op? I have dreams from childhood which are still so vivid I'd assume they were real if it wasn't for a fantasy element (go through a door in the cave into the living room) but they're more vivid than many childhood memories

Time for bed OP

I appreciate the humor but as I’ve said till I’m blue in the face “I never mentioned the word reality.”

don't know why everyone is giving OP a hard time, she clearly says she knows it wasn't real, yet it seems like a memory
OP I have a clear memory of riding on the back of a motorbike driven by my Grandad, we drove to Buckingham palace (he lived in North London)- I was about 6 or seven and neither of us had helmets
clearly this didn't happen, but it still feels like a memory

Gosh you are getting some awful replies!

False or inaccurate memories are absolutely a thing. Have a look at the Netflix documentary series called The Mind, Explained. Season one, episode one is about exactly this.

I had the opposite!

My siblings and I were talking recently about the weird dreams and imagination you have as a kid. I recalled the dream I had that we had climbed on the library roof as kids and jumped off (the two storey building!!) when the librarian banged on the window. Said I remember how vivid it was and how realistic it seemed.

My brother was like 'yeah Dino, it would have been super realistic, because that actually happened!'

Apparently we made such bad decisions as children that my brain couldn't cope with the lack of intelligence and pretended it wasn't real!
