The school is having some open evenings, my older DC already attends the school and my younger will be starting next year, do I still take them to the open day or is that weird??

Yes, take them as part of their transition.

Smartiepants79 · 10/09/2024 19:24

Yes, take them. They should go.

All four of mine went to the same school - they all went to the Open Evenings, but after first two, we all knew exactly what we were going to see!

Does your younger one want to go?

As #2 I used to find it frustrating that it was considered such an important decision with #1. With me it was kind of "oh yes, you already know".

With mine #2 wanted to go and look round so we did it quite thoroughly. #3 was more bothered that he was missing his drama class and we rushed round in 20 minutes before he asked to go.

My youngest child always wanted to attend the open evenings.

I would definitely take them.

Last year DD1s friends all wanted to do the tours for their friends siblings!

Sorry I should have added this is primary school, so youngest will be started reception! He will have an official induction closer to the time if he gets in

Reception no, didn’t even have primary open evenings here.

High School yes definitely.

Primary. No, absolutely no point taking any pre school child to an open evening aimed at parents.

No.
