I need some advice on an infected ingrown hair please

It's right on my fanjo (labia Majora) I'm assuming it's an ingrown hair that's got infected but can't get it out. I've tried plucking a few hairs out (they all had pus at the bottom, grim) but that didn't work. There's no head on the huge sore lump that's formed, hot compresses aren't working and it's getting sorer as the day goes on as it's rubbing on my underwear. What else can I do?

I would go to a sexual health clinic. They can give antibiotics if needed.

Definitely not a Bartholian Cyst?

Honestly I'd go to the GP - they've seen it all before and brilliant.

I usually wait till they get a head and then pierce with a needle.

In times gone by I’d have said try some magnesium sulphate paste but it’s tricky to get a hold of these days.

Hot compresses sometimes have to be repeated for ages. Sit on the edge of the bath all Winnie the Pooh style with no bottoms on and run the hot tap constantly. Keep holding the flannel on until it cools just a little then rinse and repeat for a good half an hour plus.

A friend swears by Epsom Salts as a compress or even in the bath but I’ve never tried it myself.

Obviously if you’re not pretty darn sure it’s just an ingrown or you start to feel poorly/have a temp etc then get yourself off to the GP.

Honestly GP or clinic will be able to sort it so much quicker. If you have to keep getting dressed for work etc and having your underwear rub against your skin you’re just going to go round in circles.

Is the lump up higher on the lips, or down near the vaginal entrance? If lower down, it might be a bartholins cyst as someone else said.

Either way, you have tried hot compresses, its affecting day to day living etc, so I'd now see GP or sexual health clinic to either have it lanced, and/or get antibiotics.

I had this - super painful and no end in sight - I was recommended Hibiscrub and it worked! I put some on a flannel when having a shower and "applied it" it went within 2 days. Apparently Hibiscrub is good for ingrowing hairs so I have been using it weekly just to avoid a repeat!

It's very high up so don't think it's a bartholins cyst. I'll carry on with hot compresses for tonight. I don't feel ill it's just annoying.
