Travel booking question - am I being a little thick?

DH and I are booking a city break (flight and hotel with a popular airline) with another couple online. If we all fly on the day I finish work, it's an extra £600 so DH and our friends are flying the day before and I'm joining them the next day (getting an early morning flight).

We're booking it this evening so I assume that the three book together and I make a separate booking for the next day's flight.

How can I ensure that I am in DH's room if we book separately?!

I cannot see how else to do it!!!

Wouldn’t you just book it as flight only tickets then join them at the hotel

Ineffable23 · 09/09/2024 20:26

I doubt you'll be able to if it's a package deal unless you can physically speak to a human - because it will treat them (and charge you for) two separate hotel bookings.

Though if the hotel booking doesn't include food I imagine that would be fine?

Book it separately

Book flights first
Then book hotel

Check if hotel is cheaper on eg booking dot com or direct

It's on a bed and breakfast basis.

It's a weekend deal with an airline and i cannot think how to do it!

I'll feel dishonest if I just get the flights - and, to be honest it's cheaper to get the city package with the hotel.

If it's cheaper just book yourself a single room and don't use it.

I'm starting to think this is the only way.

It's so expensive to do it separately.

I’m amazed it is so much more to do it separately. Do you have to stay in that one particular hotel?

LittleEsme · 09/09/2024 20:52

Not really but it's a whopping discount and it's so central!!

If the deal is with the airline is the flight alone really more expensive than booking with a room? Have you checked Skyscanner for other airlines that fly that route?

I don’t see how it’s dishonest if you’re booking the room anyway with your DHs flights.
