Facebook market place cars

I know FB market place does not have the best reputation. But is this more because the buyer is not careful enough. Is it worth looking at cars on there? As long as we don't give any money for deposit or simlar. We go to see the car test drive then pay. No money exchange until we have tested and decided to buy. Pay and drive away. ?

I bought my first car off Facebook marketplace, was a good little runner! I believe there are some decent people on there but still have to be careful.

Friends of mine got stung, car drove away fine but died the next day (can't remember what the problem was but it was something fairly major that the sellers managed to hide until the money changed hands).
I have bought a van from marketplace, which clearly needed work, which was why it was cheap. It is a bit of a heap, but it was as advertised.
