Sudafed isn't helping and my face is sore. Feeling very sorry for myself.

Get a nasal salt spray. Your cold will go quicker. The chemist sell them.

0BonneMaman0 · 08/09/2024 20:23

Hot water, honey, lemon juice, apple juice, ginger 🫚

Bath. Podcast. Vicks on your feet. Bed.

are you sure you don't have sinusitis op? How long have you been suffering? I had this all of August and eventually went on antibiotics and a steroid nasal spray the last week of aug, as I couldn't take anymore of it. Keep using some nasal spray, Vicks/ and have a hot steamy shower. Hope you feel better soon.

Put shallow boiling water in a big sturdy heatproof/Pyrex bowl with a few drops of olbus oil or a tsp of Vicks. Once cooled a little hold your face over the bowl with a towel draped over your head to enclose you, so that you breathe in the steam. Do be careful it’s not too hot for you though. This really helps clear the pipes!

Inhale steam. Put boiling water (or as near as you can tolerate) in a bowl, a towel over your head to stop steam escaping (I also wear a shower cap to stop my hair frizzing) and breathe in many times. If you have a few menthol crystals to add to the water that's even better. I keep some in my medicine cupboard.

'Only' a few days, but I've felt absolutely rotten. I hope it doesn't last any longer 😬I'm going to try the steam and then go to bed. I think I should be well enough to go to the chemist in the morning and see what they say.

@highlandcoo not half!! 😆 I use menthol crystals too. I forgot to list them.

Chaiilatte · 10/09/2024 09:45

are you any better?

frustratedhuman · 10/09/2024 09:48

this has gone round our whole family. It was Covid.

BiggerBoat1 · 10/09/2024 09:49

I think I’ve had the same. Miserable. Vicks and sleep! Hope you feel better soon. Please see the GP if you’re not on the mend soon.

Take regular decongestant meds such as Sudafed. Paracetamol for the pain. Start regular sinus washouts using the Neil Med system- I was put onto this by a Consultant ENT chap, when I was referred to him for recurring sinus issues. It really helps. Top tip, use it in the shower, it can be messy!
