Please consider giving blood if you can

I've just had to cancel my blood donation appointment on Wednesday due to having a really bad sore throat bug. I'm feeling bad about this as it's my Good Deed, I'm also O negative and the ads on the radio reminding me how desperate they are for O- aren't helping lol.
To make up for my uselessness I wonder if maybe there are some people out there who have been considering giving blood , but haven't yet, and might give it a try?
It doesn't hurt, you're there about an hour, the actual donation takes about 10 minutes max, and you get free crisps and a club biscuit afterward. Everyone's very nice to you and they check on you to make sure you're OK.

Obviously not everyone is able to give blood, whether for health reasons, no suitable appointments or whatever but if just one person starts giving blood after reading this I'll feel a lot better - and you may just save someone's life.

I’m O neg too & I literally can’t give it away! Appointment location never anywhere near me. It’s a shame.

I looked it up several weeks ago. I work full time, and I couldn't find an appointment anywhere nearby after work or on a weekend. I'm not even in a remote/rural location!

I booked an appointment 4 weeks ago. The first appointment available is in November!

It's a great thing to do but the booking system is crap. I made an appointment in July for the next available one - November.

My partner gave birth via instruments delivery two weeks ago.

Despite being a petite lady, she lost close to 2.5 litres of blood on the operating table, as I watched on holding our newborn child.

My daughter is today able to sleep in the arms of her mother, in large part due to the kindness of a stranger who gave blood in return for a sticker, a biscuit and a cup of tea.

I think there are few easier ways to be a hero than giving blood.

Our blood donation service is experiencing huge problems with staff recruitment hence sessions being cancelled so frequently.

I went on Wednesday and failed the haemoglobin test 😬, it would have been donation 56.
Now booked for just before Christmas 🤞🏻

I keep trying but the appointments keep being cancelled. I’ve got the next one booked for October.

Perhaps if they weren't expecting me to travel 20 miles for a daytime appointment I would.
They have a bloody cheek going on about needing donors and not making any effort whatsoever to make giving blood easier.
Just rechecked the website and it says our services aren't available now Hmm
