InPost locker full?

I've bought a winter coat from Vinted. This morning the tracking stated the parcel was out for delivery at 5am then at 7.50 that they would attempt re-delivery. Am I right in thinking this means there wasn't an appropriately sized locker available when the courier tried to drop it off? My guess is it will need a large locker. Shall I stalk the lockers early morning tomorrow to intercept? I don't want it to get sent back to the seller!

I don’t think the courier would get to the lockers before finding them full - you can check imposts website to see which ones are full so they probably wouldn’t turn up unless there was a space.

its rubbish though, I now have to direct my parcels to a less convenient inpost locker to avoid this potentially happening!

Good point. I guess it's possible the out for delivery scan is when the courier loads their van and the courier is then responsible for putting it in a locker, rather than it staying at the depot. Someone could empty a locker/put something in a locker before the courier gets there? Fingers crossed they do try again tomorrow and all is well. I'm going away in a couple of days and want to get this collected before then.

Surely the courier empties the lockers of parcels that are being set before refilling with parcels for collection?

Or doesn't it work like that

Just checked and the lockers are showing as full. I'm just impatient.

It does but it's not always the case that there are lockers of the right size emptied and then becoming available, particularly if your parcel is large. The lockers maybe full because people haven't collected a delivery parcel yet (you get 72 hours I think), not just because someone's sending one in that locker.

They'll know how many there are to collect when they get there, but you can drop off and collect any time as they're available 24/7/365. Also you get three days in which to collect so it's not as though all the lockers are empty at the same time. Not everything in the lockers when the courier gets there will be being sent.

Mine was delivered to a local shop when the lockers were full, although they didn't make it very clear on the email

NigelHarmansNewWife · 08/09/2024 11:50

That's good to know. Hopefully there'll be space tomorrow.

I've had a couple of things returned to sellers because the lockers were full. In both cases it looked like they tried to deliver to the locker 2-3 times before returning it.

I've got to the lockers saying online that they have space and found they're full.

In one case the locker opened, but there was a parcel already inside it. I didn't want to put mine inside as I wasn't sure if it was going to continue to open if anyone tried to use it, leaving it vulnerable to being pinched.

Having this issue at the moment - inpost were good when they started but service is ridiculous now, people are moving to Evri but Evri are overloaded and can't cope with the extra demand!
