Is it common to put raisin paste in a cinnamon roll?

Because I was sorely disappointed when my lovely looking cinnamon roll, with no
mention in the description of raisins whatsoever, tasted very strongly of raisins. No visible raisins either, just a brownish looking paste. I could have asked the staff afterward but I was too polite (aka a coward) and didn’t want to be precious, so I ate it begrudgingly.

It wasn't a Lidl one was it? Their Cinnamon rolls used to be delicious, then they disappeared. They came back last week, there's no icing on them any more and just a paste inside. I was so disappointed.

This was at a cafe, I hope they were baking them there, but I hadn’t considered they may not. And yes, no icing at all!

Well that looks just wrong, criminal.

That's just what you get for ordering something with "cinnamon" in the name. Hopefully all cinnamon products will be similarly ruined and we can free ourselves from its perfumey taste.

🥲 Sometimes I put cinnamon in my coffee.

Did it have cinnamon taste as well or only raisin? The cinnamon paste in cinnamon rolla and raisin paste could look similar, wonder if someone at the bakery made a mistake? 😅

That is what I thought I was getting, but no! It was an abomination. No icing whatsoever, just a brown paste smeared between the rolls.

All that I could taste was raisin, and I really hate raisins (sorry raisin fans). I managed to choke it down with my tea, nonetheless.

Does beg the question, why do they even have raisin paste to begin with?!

Just thought id add to this thread that if you like cinnamon rolls, try Cinnabon. I ordered some online for my ds's birthday, as we don't have one locally. Oh my they are soooo good 😋 and def no raisin paste.

Darkfloods · 08/09/2024 10:25

Seems odd to use raisin paste but maybe it’s cheaper than the usual filling of sugar and butter. I’d it didn’t contain raisin paste then it should be noted as that isn’t right for cinnamon rolls.

@Stinksmum the Lidl cinnamon rolls are indeed a huge disappointment. I had one and the dough was gluey and so bland.

TakeMe2Insanity · 08/09/2024 10:37

People don’t know what they are making and frequently mess up (mix up) chelsea buns, cinnamon rolls and pain aux rasin.
