Can someone please tell me why I need chin hair?

Just that really … I managed for 40 odd years without chin hair now my hormones have decided that I am missing out. I have started sprouting the odd thick chin hair. Just makes me wonder what else I have got to look forward too 😂

I get two thick black hairs either side of my jaw that are extremely satisfying to pluck every couple of weeks, I call them my whiskers. Baffles me that they're black because I'm very blonde.

Luckily I've not noticed ear hair yet although I've heard that's more common in men and not women.

I have lots now. I hate it. It's a real stubble just on my chin if I don't pluck.

My mum was in hospital once and unable to self care and I remember being horrified she had a stubby chin.

Why oh why.

To give you something to do on long drives/ in teams calls/ while you’re queueing.

😫

Same here OP and also growing from moles and of those I have a zillion. The joys of the forties!

Melzbelz · 09/09/2024 09:02

My eyesight is deteriorating as well which makes them harder to find and remove 😂😂

It’s mother nature’s gift to make up for the menopause.

You are morphing into a Billy goat...

HTH...

StoatofDisarray · 09/09/2024 09:05

I have one! I call it my goat beard.

BigMandyHarris · 09/09/2024 09:05

Oh wait until you get nose hair.
Very attractive and hurts like hell to pluck them out

isthismylifenow · 09/09/2024 09:12

They are to keep you active into your middle age years OP.

Because the moment to happen to just touch or rub your chin for any reason, and feel like bastard appearing, you will shoot up out of your spot and run for the tweezers.

Also assists for when you need an upgrade on your specs as you still have to feel for it even though you are looking into a magnifying mirror.

daxxx · 09/09/2024 09:18

In the long cold winter evenings on my rocking chair, I'm glad to be keeping my chin warm under my fluffy menopausal beard.

Soon it will reach the tartan blanket over my knees and I shall be truly content

DatingDinosaur · 09/09/2024 09:46

Mine decamped from my legs to my chin Confused

Chocolatey1234 · 03/01/2025 15:24

They sprout up frequently going from 0-60
in the blink of an eye. I have had to buy an extra pair of tweezers and a 10 x magnifying mirror.

I currently have a rather unattractive really stubborn small patch on my chin now one or some seem to be ingrown it hurts like hell and I can’t seem to get rid so I currently have a big red dot on my chin.

catzrulz · 03/01/2025 15:37

I had a really thick one just under my chin, chemotherapy got rid of it and I've kept my eye on my chin since. Not so much as a teeny tiny whisker.
Decided I'd try contact lenses and the optician gave me a magnifying mirror to allow me to see the lens to get it out.
Why TF did nobody tell me I had a moustache. A dark moustache. A long dark moustache.
That was not fun to pluck.
I've not had dark hair for around 20 years.
Gutted.

Munkypuppy · 03/01/2025 15:39

Eyesopenwideawake · 03/01/2025 15:42

To give your eye muscles some exercise so that you don't need glasses.

Like a pp, I have white blond hair, which is rapidly thinning, see also leg and pube hair. But chin hairs are thick, black and grown like weeds. WTF. I recently found a hair growing out of the side of my neck. Double WTF!!!!!

JohnTheRevelator · 03/01/2025 17:22

I get this too. Up until about 8 years ago,I never had a problem with facial hair. But since hitting the menopause at 53, I regularly get quite coarse hairs on my chin. Thankfully I'm blonde so they don't show too much, but I have to use hair remover on them every couple of weeks. Don't understand why it's happening now, when my hormones are in the descendant! On the plus side,my leg and under arm hair is practically non-existent now. I've gone from having to shave my legs and under arms once a week to once or twice a year!

randonneuse · 03/01/2025 20:48

it's that they feel like they're made out of wire that gets me! I could cope with the look, I can't see them. But they feel horrible and that drives me potty!
