Holiday inspiration

Hello all,

We usually holiday in holiday cottages in the UK or do a holiday related to our joint hobby sailing - great fun but is busy and physical.

After a stressful and emotionally exhausting 18 months we want to go on a “holiday” over the October half term but don’t even know where to start or what we want.

Decent budget and will have a just turned 18 year old with us. So I thought I would ask the hive mind on here for inspiration and ideas we might not have thought off.

What's your budget? Are you happy to fly long haul?

Would rather not fly long haul and budget probably up to £3500 but that would be a real treat if you see what I mean.

Morocco or Ras--Al-Khaimah (one of the Emirates).

A gentle city break where you could just wander around leisurely?

Iceland but you'd have to be careful to come in under budget, although you could probably manage it if you self catered, had lunch out and had easy food in the accommodation in the evening, which could work as it would probably be cold and dark anyway.

You could get a city card for free access to the museums and swimming pools in Reykjavik and do a couple of trips out eg Golden Circle tour.

Somewhere like Seville could also be good. Again you can wander around and also take trips by train to Cordoba, Cadiz and Jerez. It would probably still be quite hot, so you'd probably be able to swim in the sea.

I'd look at a week all inclusive somewhere like Turkey. You should be able to get a highly rated hotel in half term for that budget. Have a look at the Jet2 website. We did a similar holiday in the summer and to not have to think about cooking, cleaning, getting to/from the hotel was amazing, felt like a proper break.

Cyprus for a beach holiday. I was considering it for oct half term. Prices are £1000 pp

If you like sailing, go to an island somewhere - Crete maybe and you can rent a little boat for a couple of days.

Or cheaper but not to as good weather - you could do the Atlantic Coast in France.

Yes, what about a skippered sailing holiday so you can just relax? I've read about island hopping in Croatia on a sailing boat?

Thank you. Looking at these now,
