37 weeks pregnant was being induced today told I was 1cm dilated and given gel to help things I’m being checked tomorrow to see if I’m any further along. for 3 days now I’ve had intense back cramps they are now constant they get worse and then die down to bad cramps and my stomach is rock hard. Hospital have given me pain relief and I’ve got a tens machine which is helping take the edge off. Ctg isn’t showing contractions although it’s so painful I can’t sleep. Will be speaking to midwife when they come round soon but has anyone experienced this. Could they be contractions. I’m wary of more pain relief if not in labour as I’ve already had some morphine.

Sorry no-one’s replied.
How are you now? Does sound like contractions. Hopefully the midwife can sort you out soon.

PoopedAndScooped · 07/09/2024 01:04

Is baby moving as normal?

Thistooshallpass24 · 07/09/2024 01:35

Warm bath? Or heated blanket warmth is good for pain .
Anyone with you?
Or able to?

She’s in hospital - Cant imagine a bath there would be to relaxing

Thistooshallpass24 · 07/09/2024 01:37

@PoopedAndScooped you are correct; I had picked up my distance glasses and didn't want to read and run,
No I don't think a bath at hospital would be relaxing either

Thank you still yet to see midwife but the last midwife said I wasn’t contracting on the ctg monitor. I just want to know how dilated I am has the gel worked etc. labour is full and there extremely busy so we are all waiting and being pushed back. Hopefully I’m first on the list tomorrow. Husband is bringing my hot water bottle with him tomorrow baby has been moving especially when on the ccg monitor he likes to kick the thing off. I’m hoping I am having contractions just odd that it’s constant and not something I can time

@Happynappy1 Good luck with everything, is this your first? Do you know what you are having?

Happynappy1 · 07/09/2024 01:59

Sorry you’re having such a rough night. Does switching positions help at all? I remember eventually dozing on and off through the night after induction by rocking on all fours and breathing through the worst if the pain, and then distracting myself/ zoning out a bit by listening to an audio book with headphones. Hope the next midwife comes round soon and can help/ at least let you know how everything is going.

helpamumout · 07/09/2024 02:25

Can I ask why you were induced at 37 weeks please? Only ask as I'm in the same position and hospital considering inducing x

DustyOwl · 07/09/2024 02:29

Oh yes, I had this and my baby is now a 15 year old boy, sleeping soundly next door. That was a tough night but they did actually have a bath and it was lovely. It is very surreal to think about it now.

You poor thing! It’s horrible, being in pain and waiting and waiting.

I had several goes of the gel 12 hours apart (if memory serves) then eventually the drip as the gel wasn’t progressing anything. Time dragged on and on and I was so achey and bored!

I hope everything goes well once labour gets started and you’re soon holding your baby boy!

Butterflysunshine01 · 07/09/2024 03:11

My labour was completely in my back! I had a pessary induction at 5pm and throughout the night i had to rock on all fours, I remember thinking this is odd- there’s no let up in between, was constant back pain. It really ramped up around 7am when it started to go round to my belly too. I hope it’s the start of it for you! Keep moving and rock on all fours, helps the back pain and baby descend. If you can possibly get in warm shower, having that run on your back really helps too.

Nothing to add OP I just hope you are getting some rest.

Adventurerno24 · 07/09/2024 06:30

Can someone bring you a TENS machine? You used to be able to hire them. I had a bath in hospital and it made my waters break.

Adventurerno24 · 07/09/2024 06:31

Ignore me! Still asleep.

Thistooshallpass24 · 07/09/2024 09:53

@Happynappy1 hope you got some rest and your husband's been

ExquisiteEmelda · 07/09/2024 19:27
