Did any schools not go back this week?

I flew back to Manchester from Turkey this afternoon and there were a surprising number of kids on the flight. Mostly junior school age but a good few teens too.

To the best of my knowledge all schools started back this week but are there any that restart next week?

I know that parents take kids out of school because of the cost but I do feel sorry for the kids that miss the first few days back of a new school year, they feel more important than most of the other weeks for many reasons.

Some of the children might be at a fee paying school. Although most private schools started back this week, some are starting back on 9 September.

Lots round me were only back Thurs and Fri and some of the secondaries here don't have most of the year groups in til Monday. In both scenarios I can understand extending a family holiday until this weekend.

My teen is back at (state) sixth form on Monday.

My DCs don't start till Monday and we are all climbing the walls. They go a week later than usual in December too so the whole term's shifted a week later for some reason.

Local grammar school had just one day in this week on Friday, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if many families just came back to start school on the Monday.

Mine are back on Monday. 7 weeks off in total! (2 days inset end of summer term, 3 days inset start of this term). State school.
