If you play the same numbers on the lottery, have your numbers ever come up when you didn't play?

I've played the same 6 numbers on and off since I was about 15 (dad used to buy me a ticket). I just checked my numbers and the most that ever came up was 4 numbers in 2011! Not sure if that means my numbers are unlucky or I should keep playing them 🤔
Anyone ever missed out on a jackpot?

I don't know. I've never checked. I stopped doing it when it went up to £2. Prior to that I played the numbers my cat chose.

I have played the same single line in the Saturday draw every week since it started. I can’t stop now for the very reason you outline. I know it’s an idiot tax, but I work in heritage and we need every penny we can get to save historic places with a conservation deficit, and the heritage fund from the lottery has been a lifesaver for that, so I am happy to think that’s where my £2 a week is going. I have had some nice windfalls from it over the years, though nothing life changing, and overall I am happy with my decision to keep playing.

Sexyshrek · 06/09/2024 21:44

I think the most I've ever one is a tenner. A few lucky dips over the years.

I've played the same numbers since my Nan died 12 years ago, every week I play as I know they will come up one day... 🙏

Call it denial, I call it faith 😂

ilovesooty · 06/09/2024 21:48

I won £74 on the cat's numbers once. Nowadays I'm in a syndicate in Euromillions with a group of friends and the numbers are all lucky dips.

ilovesooty · 06/09/2024 21:56

Maybe so but I quite like my £10 a month dabble.

Someone I used to work with gave up her job when her sister won the Euromillions the first time she'd ever played and bought her a house.

Sexyshrek · 06/09/2024 22:13

Why?

kitchendiscotime · 07/09/2024 06:54

Because it's fun to sneer at other people 🙄

I have only ever played lucky dips because I'd be too upset if my regular numbers came up on a week I wasn't playing! I think it could genuinely ruin your life to know that you missed out on the jackpot.

How does your cat choose the numbers @ilovesooty ? I’m fascinated.

TonightWeAreSix · 07/09/2024 07:04

Not me a woman I used to work with played the same number for years. One week she has a sudden death in her family (brother killed in a car accident on his way to work) and forgot to put her numbers on…. And they came out. She would have one the jackpot which was millions of pounds. She was married with 2 boys.

BUT she was very calm about it, she said the money was never meant for her and nothing could compare the feeling of losing her brother so it wasn’t meant to be. This was about 10 years ago now but I often think about her

It was years ago when the lottery started. My exH got me to read out all the numbers and choose the ones he meowed at. 😁

If anyone's feeling brave, this is where you can check if your numbers have come up in the past.

@ilovesooty Love that!

That's heartbreaking 💔

I don’t do the lottery but I have just made up some numbers that I would use if I did.

I would have won a tenner on my 18th birthday. That would have paid for many shots at the “White Horse £1 a shot Wednesday”. 😆

And I got 4 numbers in 2011!

Although one of the numbers is ds’s birthday and he wasn’t born until 2013.

Beezknees · 07/09/2024 08:50

This is why I don't play the same numbers and always do lucky dip. If my numbers came up on a week I hadn't played I'd be too devastated!
