Yes! Ds2 advertised his services on the kitchen doorframe at the beginning of the summer hols 😁.

I can do it in 3 mins if not harassed. I'm embarrassed to say it took almost an entire week for me to get it. Ds2 taught himself in an hour Blush.

Aww good on him! I would definitely have lessons from your son :)

Until 12am. He's a taskmaster!

I can't do it. I read a book but couldn't really follow it. I'm always impressed when someone can do it

my SIL's party trick... he can do it in 20 seconds! i didn't believe him until he showed me .. pretty impressive to be honest.

whereswaldo · 06/09/2024 23:44

Yes! But only because my son wanted to learn and I had to do it to teach him.

Lost a couple of hours to a YouTube video ( last few moves K had to change the speed settings to get to grips) but I can now do it in about 1:45-2 minutes. My sons fastest time was 42 secs..

I often do it when waiting in queues for things- v absorbing!

fridaynight1 · 06/09/2024 23:59

I used to be able to do it but I wasn't very fast. I believe it's possible in 9 moves but I never figured them out. I'd love to give it another go.

I can't but my daughter can and it's pretty quick. Apparently there are just 9 steps needed or something, and she just memorised those. Or something like that - can't remember as it was years ago now when she was a young teenager.

Yes I did it that way. Just repeated a few moves to get various faces done. Was around 2 mins. Forgot it now of course but still have the cube and book!

Kitkat1523 · 06/09/2024 12:53

I can do 2/3rds of one!

Same! Weirdly I can remember the top tow rows from the book I read 40 odd years ago 😱 That last row solution though - completely gone!

DramaAlpaca · 07/09/2024 00:26

Nope, never could. I always found it very frustrating.

I'm great at Wordle and Sudoku though.

DonkeyyDoo · 07/09/2024 00:27

Surely it’s impossible?! 😂 Absolutely not a cat in hells chance could I solve it!

timetodecide2345 · 07/09/2024 01:07

I can but it took me a long time and I have no desire to do it again.

Floralnomad · 07/09/2024 01:09

I can do them . I’ve had one since the original craze and I’ve never timed it but I’m fairly quick .

researchers3 · 07/09/2024 01:24

Nope. Could do a side as a young child. As an adult, not at all!

KievLoverTwo · 07/09/2024 01:38

Pdq cos I peel the stickers off and cheat.

My mum’s face when adult me told her this 😅

MadisonAvenue · 07/09/2024 01:46

Never been able to do it, I still have the snide one bought from Pwllheli market while on holiday in 1982. My son recently decided to try to do it but I’ve noticed it’s still all jumbled up on his shelf.

dizzydizzydizzy · 07/09/2024 01:50

When they first came out, I had a book on how to solve it. Once I learned how to do it, it probably took me about 30 sec. I wouldn't have a clue now.

Readinstead · 07/09/2024 02:00

I still have my original cube. I used to be able to complete in under a minute when at school - 40+ years ago. I dig it out every so often and after a few tries I generally manage to complete in 3 minutes or less. Sometimes I mess up the top layer having had a complete mental block!

Cyclingandrunning · 08/06/2025 07:24

My children got one and I learned to do it recently. The children are very quick. I'm just under 2 mins.

I actually really like them, it engrossing when you are doing it. I'm also waiting patiently of an opportunity I can impress people by nonchantly picking one up and doing it (ie. Those strange work meetings/conferences where they get you to do tasks). That moment won't arise but I am ready for it if it does....

TranceNation · 08/06/2025 07:27

Ha, no and I probably never will be able to. We have one on the table in our staff room at work.

VerbenaGirl · 08/06/2025 07:29

Nope - my brain just doesn’t work that was. My big brother could - he has a Maths type brain.

TimSamandLulu · 08/06/2025 07:31

I did it once, following the steps of a book. It took a few false attempts and some very careful studying of diagrams, which I’ve never been good at following. Took about 4 hours (in hospital with one of my kids which is why I had that much time to kill!).
