PARTY BAGS - hit me with your good ideas

For a mixed-sex group of 7-8 year olds.

I don't like the idea of filling other people's houses (or eternal landfill) with plastic tat, but, kids do love plastic tat.

What's gone down well in your party bags, I'd love some inspiration!

... just seen it's a pottery party so maybe hand them out once you've left the premises Grin

Also think the hot chocolate c set is a fab idea

We have done Pokémon cards (especially off brand gold ones that I bought a big pack of and divided), beeswax candles to roll, seeds, Minecraft figures (big pack and divided up - obviously doesn’t need to be Minecraft), gem stone slices of agate, felt masks,…

Biggest hit here was a bag with six different sized and differently coloured dice - genuinely quite useful for other games and the kids have fun with them.

Hot chocolate set for the mug they make.

This is absolutely what I would do. I've done ingredient mixes for cakes and biscuits before and it was well received,

Make your own sweet cones. You can get the bags and ties on Amazon fairly cheaply. Then just a couple of big bags of sweets to fill them with. Looks nice and much easier than the faff of party bags.

Toothrush · 06/09/2024 11:57

The hot chocolate idea is cute as they'll have a mug to take home already! Mostly children like a brightly coloured bag with something inside- doesn't have to be something big or pricey. Please not the 10 for £10 books though, always gets suggested and it's awful.

Jellybeanbag · 06/09/2024 19:57

They just want the sweets. They'll look at the plastic tat, which swiftly goes in the bin. Agree with above poster, I eyeroll at the books suggestion. Major let down for the kids IMO

A decent packet of sweets eg normal sized smarties tube and a book you know is good-you can get them for 50p from charity shops or a multipack online.
Don't overthink it, kids love sweets.

wafflesmgee · 06/09/2024 20:01

I think books r good as long as you get them, to ensure they are decent ones. Eg pick your child's favourite one or any roald dahl (can't spell)

The hot chocolate melting sticks are fun

Enough4me · 06/09/2024 20:06

Chocolate buttons, marshmallows and hair scrunchies would probably go down well.
