What to buy myself for my birthday ?

It's my birthday tomorrow. I need to get a gift from my DH & DC to me (that's a whole other thread !). Budget is around £40 (we have a joint account. I can spend what I like, within reason, but I've set the budget based on our finances this month, which i manage).

I don't have any hobbies. I don't read or do theatre/gardening. I like perfume/jewellery/girly things. I find buying clothes/shoes/bags v hard as I never see what I like and/or fits.

DC will want to see me open a gift on my birthday. I've ordered novelty candles for the cake, booked the restaurant, told DH to put a cake on the shopping delivery (DC will want this for me, I'm not paticularly bothered by a cake).

I'm 50.

Half an hour with a divorce lawyer? Sounds like you've got yourself a prize cunt there.

I would get some jewellery that will remind you of your DC.

Tbh I think we need to see the whole other thread.

I would get myself Neom foam bath which I love but is too expensive to buy regularly.

I wouldn't bother. Sounds like too much hassle.

If they can't be arsed, why is it put onto you.
Unless there is genuinely good reason why no-one has bought/ordered you a gift.

I agree that this is not a present from DH and DC, because that would involve them putting in some thought and effort, which clearly isn't happening.

However, your gift is for DH to look after DC tomorrow/this afternoon or whenever and you take yourself out either alone or with a friend/family member to go and have a browse of the perfume/jewellery/girly things that you like and buy something that takes your fancy.

Then have lunch and cocktails or coffee and cake and some peace and quiet with a book or a nice chat with your companion.

Then go home to a clean and tidy house and have a nice bath and enjoy getting dressed and made up for your birthday meal out.

Happy birthday!

I was only thinking yesterday about my favourite tv peogrammw from my teenage years. I thought I'd be able to stream it but no. I'd be buying that on DVD.

PS happy birthday!

Happy birthday!

How about a gift pack of Essie nail polish, if you like make up type stuff? That’s a good brand with some great colours, and it’s the sort of thing I don’t think to buy myself.

Do you like to read? There are some stunning hard back editions. DC bought me a beautiful copy of Persuasion, it’s gorgeous.

I’m sorry no one is putting time and thought into your birthday, OP. I hope you have a good day despite that.

Thanks for the birthday messages.

I've not started another thread but there is enough scope for one !

Just to confirm, I'm currently 50 and will be 51 tomorrow.

Tbh I don't know if I can be bothered to get myself a gift. I treated myself to a new bracelet yesterday using a discount i had plus gift vouchers (from Xmas !).

Obviously I don't know what the bracelet cost, but what about a ring to " accessorise" it
I did that when my DS3 gave me a " one 4 all" voucher which I heard were a nightmare!
I nipped to H Samuel for a silver Russian wedding ring. It's actually decent quality
Just an idea
