Summer officially over

Two things this morning made me realise summer was officially over.

I had to turn the light on in the bathroom to have my shower.

I put tights on to wear proper shoes. I've lived in sandals since April, rain or shine.

What made you realise and when?

We had fog early this morning i love it cant wait for the frost to arrive or the bitter cold days.
The nights are coming in now love it.

I do think these threads are a bit pointless if people don't give some idea of where they are. A long list of people saying its lovely here or not doesn't really inform.

Don't need your address and postcode but some vague clue might make the thread more informative.

Fine. It's gloriously sunny today here in Lancashire. We're expected to hit 75 degrees F this afternoon.

when I came back from holiday a few days ago seeing the thick grey clouds before landing and wet ground.

It’s pissing down in Wales. The weather is disgusting. Also feels cold.

I've had the heating on for a short time a couple of times this week, there's brown leaves on the ground and it's foggy this morning! It smelt of autumn yesterday and it was dark by 8pm :( Had to put the light on to eat dinner too.
Summer never arrived here, my work summer dresses haven't come out of the storage box.

In Yorkshire it's a glorious day here, warm and sunny. We're having a BBQ later.

Torrential almost non stop rain for the last 2 days.

Woke up yesterday and the room was lovely and cool, haven't had that in a while and it felt nice.

Added a blanket to my bed last night, my summer one is JUST a little too cold now.

Greater London

Liverpool, beautiful warm and sunny day, but still with autumn light not summer light! (so glad a pp knows what I mean)

East Midlands. Very warm and sunny day but it's more of an autumnal sunshine and the nights are starting to draw in. It's chilly in the early mornings and after dusk now. The leaves are starting to change colour slightly.

My bit of Wales is sunny and warm. 23-24C today. I'm in a t-shirt in my front room where I work, always the warmest room in the house due to its position and big window.

I want it to get more autumny. I want to put the winter duvet on the bed and not have to sleep naked with an arm poking out. I want cold mornings and my fleecy dressing gown!

Just checked the forecast and it's saying solid rain for the next week from Sunday, so I'll maybe get my wish...

I think we should all be happy that the carbon measures do appear to be getting somewhere and we have successfully begun to cool the planet, with a very cold British summer offsetting the 40+ temperatures the rest of Europe has endured for months. Well done all 👏👏👏

It's the hottest day we've had so far here. Summer has come finally!

I've actually been really cold today, so summer is definitely over for me.
