Tory leadership contest - Priti Patel is out

I know most people don't give a toss what the Tory Party is up to, but just to say that Patel is out.

It's a long drawn-out process!

Wonder who is next.

Well what a disaster that is.

I wonder who will win?
Not that anyone I know really cares ( too busy moaning about the current government)

Isn't Kemi Badenoch tipped to win?

I don't know why it's such a long drawn out process!

At least it's now in their own time, not the Government's

Very much a side show but I like to see them knocking cobs out of each other!

Jenrick has overtaken her in the betting.

If you want to know who's going to win, look at who the party members like the most, and then try and figure out if that candidate will make it to the final two. If there is a clear favourite among members and it looks like they will make it to the final two, you can glean a fair idea as to who its going to be.

I'd say the members are currently favouring Badenoch: https://yougov.co.uk/politics/articles/50368-kemi-badenoch-leads-in-first-yougov-poll-of-tory-members-for-2024-leadership-contest; although this is by no means suggesting she'll be any good. Last time it went to the members, they went for Liz Truss!

The former business and trade secretary has an early lead, on 24% of the vote, but the field remains open

If sufficient numbers of MPs don't want Badenoch there'll probably be vote manipulation to bar her from the last two. After all they did it with Mordaunt. She's divisive and I suspect not very popular with some of her fellow MPs. However there are fewer votes these days for them to play with.

Thank God for that. She should never even have stood. I’m hoping for Tom T 🤞

They all seem dreadful to me. But then so are the party they represent so perhaps that's not surprising....at least none of them look like they'll ever be prime minister.
