I need an alarm clock that could wake dead people - help!

Does anyone have any recommendations for an alarm clock that could raise the dead? DS can sleep through his phone alarm on the loudest setting and is desperate to find something that will rouse him.

I wake up if a pin drops in the next county, so I'm no good to help him. Does anyone use an alarm that is really loud that they would recommend?

Thank you.

@Ageney that sounds like a good idea if it really is loud enough. Is it a free app? It definitely needs to be something that forces him out of the bed. We could stick the bar code on his bedroom window which would do the trick.

Yes it’s really loud (and annoying) it’s free but you can pay to access different challenges, I’m fine with the free ones like the barcode or shaking the phone

An old fashioned one like this. I still flinch at the memory of mine going off as a teenager.

My grandad needed an alarm that could raise the dead, so he had one of these, in an open metal biscuit tin out of reach of the bed so he had to get up to turn it off.
Very very loud

I once read (can't remember where, unfortunately) about an alarm device that falls off the surface it's placed on when it goes off, then rolls around the floor making a noise until you get out of bed and switch it off. For me it'd be a surefire way to start the day in a vile mood 😄but might be worth looking into if you're desperate!

(Edited to add: I should have RTFT, I see a pp has linked to a similar device!)

Great suggestions here, thank you. I think I'm going to get him to try some of them, seeing an old fashioned alarm in a tin as the last resort!

When my son was a hibernating teenage slug we got him something called a Sonic Bomb that went under the mattress and shook him awake. Mornings went immediately from naggy Mum hell to it simply not being my problem any more. Definitely recommend if they are still on the market.

My 18yo DS has one of these and it's kept at the opposite side of the room so he has to get up to switch it off. It's got different volume options, DS has it on the loudest and once he's up to turn it off, he's up and ready to get sorted for work. Downside is that it's loud enough to wake the whole house so on his 4.45am starts, its not much fun.

Look up the Argos Constant Twin Bell alarm clock.

The only thing that has ever woken teen DS. It could wake the dead 😁
