My mums having a procedure at Worcester Hospital. It's 2 hours from where we live. We've been told around 5 hours so I will have 4 hours to kill. Never been to Worcester. What can I do for 4 hours that's close to the hospital? Will have car. Just me, no kids.

Nice city. Good shops, pretty area called shambles. If you like history or religious buildings the Cathedral is worth a visit. There is a cinema and plenty of restaurants. The one way system can be a pain, however.

Where I live parking at the hospital is incredibly difficult, so if I was getting there early I probably wouldn't move my car. Unless, of course, I wasn't expecting to pick her up until after 5pm. So I would only go somewhere walking distance from the hospital - no idea if there is anywhere in Worcester that is easy to walk to?

Croome National Trust is nice.
There is also a country park nearby.
Or go in to the city or to Malvern.

Ps hospital is just off motorway, not in city centre.

Last few days of the Waddle of Worcester Penguin trail

Beautiful Cathedral

Nice river path and cafes.

The town centre is quite nice.

Yeah, parking is horrible at the hospital but there is the County Woods right next to the hospital for a walk with a nice cafe. Otherwise, there is really not much in walking distance.

The number 38 bus goes into town from the hospital and there is lots to do, thr Cathedral, museum, Commandery, Greyfriars House (NT) and lots of shops.

Worcester woods country park is nice for a wander around and is close to the hospital, it also has a cafe.
The city is nice, parking at St Martins gate car park and easy to get to shops etc. Lots of independent coffee shops and resteraunts.
The cathedral is lovely, have a look round and then a walk down by the river.
Hospital parking is a nightmare, 4hrs is plenty to drive to town have a look around and back but if you're wanting to leave the car there and walk then worcester woods is probably your best bet.

We enjoyed visiting Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum

4 hours whips right by when you’re sat in the Costa cafe in the hospital with your phone and book.

I was at worcester hospital last week. Parking is indeed a nightmare. I'd stay and read a book.
Just FYI because I'm still mad, my 87 year old, confused and registered blind father, was left on a trolley in a&e for 48 hours.
