How do you pay with your phone?

I see loads of people tapping their phone like I tap and pay with a debit/credit card. How do I set this up? I have an android phone and bank with HSBC if relevant.

Be aware that every so often you have to use your actual card and put it into the csrc reader

I've never been asked to do this.

Also I can't relate to anyone saying they have to enter a pin/use a fingerprint or face ID.

I just unlock my phone and tap, that's it. Don't even have to open the wallet app.

I think people are meaning they enter their PIN or use their fingerprint or face Id to unlock their phone. That's certainly what I meant. Presumably you unlock your phone using one of those methods? Then tap.

Not having a limit is a negative for me in terms of security, thanks though as I didn't realise this as I've never thought to try it. I use the same setup as HuaShan, a separate account with a limited amount, but everyone I know finds this ridiculous so I just stopped telling people 😅

But it would be the same as using your card for chip and pin. When you use it, you either need a finger print, face recognition or a pin to authorise it.

Because I'm a nervous person, after setting up my Google wallet I tried it first at a self checkout when there was no queue behind me! It worked!

So easy to use I rarely ever get a card out my bag now and am brave enough to shop with just my phone on me.
